The Liebherr R916 Advanced is a tracked hydraulic excavator and has an operating weight of around 25 tonnes.

This version of the model is in the colours of Christen, a Swiss construction company.

Packaging

The model comes in a Liebherr branded box and inside the model is contained between a pair of polystyrene trays.  There were no missing parts or damage on the review model.

It is fully assembled so no instructions are supplied, and NZG have usefully supplied a bag of small parts including track links. mirrors and pins.

Detail

The metal tracks are detailed including bolt heads and they are mounted on single piece track frames that have no moving rollers.  The drive sprockets are detailed.

The cab has good interior detailing including control levers, and there are tinted windows and realistic looking window seals.  Grab rails, wipers and mirrors are plastic.

The body is a good casting with plenty of detail on top, and there are metal handrails.  The Christen livery is very bright and includes a number of small warning sign graphics.

The hydraulics on the boom are very good with thin hosing at the boom foot and pipes nicely painted silver on the boom top.  The colour match of the cylinder jackets with the metal parts is excellent.

The tool coupler at the end of the stick is detailed and the bucket is a reasonable metal part.

Features

The tracks were too stiff to roll freely but can be turned by hand.  They are tensioned by spring loaded idler wheels.

The body rotated smoothly on the review model.  The range of boom and stick movement is very good.

The bucket can be unpinned from the end of the stick and the bucket can be attached facing forward if required.

Quality

This is a good quality model with little plastic used, and the detailing and Christen livery are to a high standard.

Price

It is a limited edition model and is good value.

Overall

This is a good model with some nice detailing and a smart looking colour scheme.  It poses well with good functionality.  It is a very easy model to recommend.
