Comment on this model.
This model has
a half-pipe tipper body mounted on Mercedes-Benz Actros
8x4 chassis.
This model is in the colours of
Penzenstadler, a
southern German company which was founded in 1939 and
started originally as a bus company.
Packaging
The model comes in an NZG branded box with a window.
There were no defects or missing parts on the review
model.
There is no information about the real truck,
and as the model is complete out of the box, there are
no instructions provided.
Detail
This is a heavy model with a relatively low plastic
content. Underneath, the chassis is detailed in metal
with only the steering linkages being purely functional
as a modelling compromise. The tyres have a good tread
and appear to be the same on all wheels. The wheels are detailed
with painted hubs which look good.
The cab is of a high standard with aerials and horns on
the roof. The access steps are textured, there is a
number plate and the lights have plastic lenses. The
door handles are realistic inserts. The type number on
the cab doors is 4148 and there is a tiny Blue Tec
graphic next to the door handle.
Behind the cab the exhaust and air intake are plastic
and detailed. The wheel arches are metal and at the back the lights
have nice plastic lenses, and there is a number plate
and towing hitch.
The tipper body is all metal with very good graphics.
The tailgate has a good structure.
Features
The truck rolls well and the front two axles have linked
steering which can be pushed to a reasonable angle.
The tipper can be raised but the angle is somewhat
restricted at around 40°.
The tailgate opens
and snaps shut in the closed position, but it is not
free swinging.
Quality
This model is good quality and mostly metal, with the paint and graphics being the highlight.
Price
It is good value.
Overall
This is another well-made tipper truck by NZG
and in Penzenstadler livery it pairs well with the Atlas
excavator made in the same colour scheme. It is recommended.
Footnotes
The model in this livery appeared as a Winter 2012
release and was produced in a limited
run of 300 models.
