Comment on this model.
The Liebherr R 936 is a crawler excavator designed for
civil engineering applications. It has an operating
weight in the range 30-35 tonnes and
it typically uses buckets of size 0.70 - 1.75m³.
This model is in the colours of
Korz,
a German company based in the Rhineland.
Packaging
The model comes in a typical Liebherr branded box.
Inside the model is wrapped in soft paper and rests in a polystyrene tray.
There
were no missing parts or defects on the review model.
There is no information about the model or the real machine.
It is fully assembled,
and NZG also provides some spare track links and pins.
Detail
The underside of the body has some detailing and the track
pads are metal with bolt heads and grousers. They
are mounted on track frames which have some fine casting
details and also working rollers.
The cab has very thin metal grab rails and windscreen
wipers and the windows have detailed frames and seals.
There is also an aerial and mirror. It looks very good
inside with the joysticks and levers being highlighted in black.
The curved body is cast well and the engine cover is top
notch with detail in the casting and tiny hinges
highlighted with silver paint. The grab rails are metal
and other details are carefully painted. At the
rear the exhaust pipe is solid without a hole. At the boom
foot there are many soft rubber hydraulic hoses which
give a complex look. The Korz colour
scheme and graphics are very attractive.
The hydraulics on the boom are modelled really well with
silver pipes indicated on the boom and cylinders, and
more soft hoses. The rivets used are painted and
small so the look is realistic.
The bucket is a good casting with nice teeth and the
quick hitch facility is modelled effectively.
Features
The tracks were very stiff on the review model but can
be turned by hand.
The model rotates well.
The movement of the boom and stick is very good although
the boom is possibly a bit restricted when digging deep.
There is a
pleasant stiffness in the cylinders.
The bucket is removable and can also be reversed.
Quality
This is a high quality model with a very good finish and
the metal content is high.
The paint and graphics are excellent.
Price
The model is good value given it is a limited edition.
Overall
This is a great looking Liebherr machine in the colours
of Korz. As with other versions of the R 936 the detailing and features are very
good.
Footnotes
The model first appeared in
Liebherr colours at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in
2012. This version of the model was a
winter 2014 release in a run of 300 models.
