Comment on this model.
Mercedes Benz introduced a new
version of the Actros truck in June 2011 and this model
is of the 4x2 FH23 StreamSpace with a three axle semi trailer
for containers.
It is in the colours of
"K" Line,
a subsidiary of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, a
fully-integrated global transportation company.
Packaging
The model comes in an NZG branded box and is
contained between a pair of polystyrene
trays held in place with a clear plastic former. The review model had no defects or missing parts.
There is no assembly to do, and no information about the
model or real truck is supplied.
Detail
The Actros tractor is detailed underneath in metal with
the steering being functionally modelled as a
compromise. The tyres are wider on the front axle
and the wheels are detailed.
The
StreamSpace cab has an aerodynamic shape for lower fuel
consumption and this is nicely modelled. The
grille at the front is finely reproduced and the lights
are high quality, and there is a realistic number plate
too. Overall the paint job is excellent with many small sharp
graphics. Air horns, wipers and
mirrors are included and the door handles are
convincing. Inside the cab the two-tone finish is good.
Behind the cab there is a coiled air line, and the
various
tanks are realistic with colour coded filler caps.
The rear lights have plastic lenses.
The trailer is simply modelled and it is metal.
The wheels are good and there are a couple of spare tyres.
The landing legs are fixed metal parts.
The container looks very good in the colours of K Line.
It is entirely metal with ribbed surfaces. The
rear end has the locking bolts detailed within the
casting, and there are excellent detailed graphics.
Features
The Actros
rolls well and the the steering is good with a
reasonable lock being possible.
The trailer also rolls well and when separated from the
trailer it stands well on the landing legs.
The container is a separate item and rests on pins
located on the trailer so it does not slide about.
There are also holes for pins in the top of the
container so potentially they could be stacked. It
would have been a nice feature if the doors could have
been opened.
Quality
NZG has produced a high quality model that is
heavy as it is almost entirely in metal.
The paintwork and graphics are very good.
Price
The model is reasonable value for money.
Overall
This is a
very good looking model in the colours of K Line. The
feature count is limited, but the cab detailing and
quality is high. It is recommended.
Footnotes
This version of the model first appeared in Summer 2012
as a limited edition of 300 models.
