Comment on this model.
Mercedes-Benz introduced a new
version of the Actros truck in June 2011 and this model
is of the 4x2 FH25 GigaSpace with a three axle
refrigerated Kogel semi trailer.
It is in the colours of
Wolter Koops,
the Dutch international transportation and logistics
group that was founded in 1961.
Packaging
The model comes in an NZG branded box and is
contained between a pair of polystyrene
trays held in place with a clear plastic former. The review model had no defects or missing parts.
There is no assembly to do, and no information about the
model or real truck is supplied.
Detail
The Actros tractor is heavy and is detailed underneath in metal with
the steering being functionally modelled as a
compromise. The fuel tanks impress, the tyres are wider on the front axle
and the wheels are detailed.
The
GigaSpace cab looks particularly good in the colours of
Wolter Koops and it has a realistic number plate. The
grille at the front is finely reproduced and the lights
are high quality. Air horns, wipers and
two-tone mirrors look good and the door handles are
nice too. Inside the cab the two-tone finish is
also pleasing.
Behind the cab there is a coiled air line, and the
various
tanks are realistic with nice filler caps.
The rear lights have plastic lenses.
The Kogel trailer is simply modelled. It is metal and
very heavy with good wheels and there are a couple of
spare tyres. The landing legs are fixed metal parts,
and the box under
the chassis is very plain.
There is a Carrier refrigeration unit at the front and
it has realistic looking grilles. The
rear end has the rear doors lightly delineated and the
lights are decent. The livery looks very
impressive.
Features
The Actros rolls well and the steering has a very good range of
movement.
The trailer also rolls well and when separated from the
trailer it stands just not quite level on the landing legs.
Quality
This is a high quality metal model with very little plastic.
The paintwork and graphics are very good.
Price
The model is reasonable value for money.
Overall
NZG has produced an extremely solid good looking model
and it is easy to recommend it.
Footnotes
This version of the model first appeared in Winter 2012
as a limited edition of 300 models.
