Comment on this model.
This model
is of the Mercedes-Benz 4x2 FH25 GigaSpace with a three-axle
refrigerated Kogel semi trailer.
It is in the colours of
Sansibar,
the German fashion and food company.
Packaging
The model comes in an NZG branded box and is
contained between a pair of polystyrene
trays held in place with a clear plastic lid.
The review model had no defects or missing parts.
There is no assembly to do, and no information
about the model, real truck or livery is supplied.
Detail
The Actros tractor is heavy and is detailed underneath in metal with
the steering being functionally modelled as a
compromise. The tanks impress, the tyres are wider on the front axle
and the wheels are detailed.
The
GigaSpace cab looks classy in the colours of
Sansibar and it has a realistic number plate. The
grille at the front is reproduced well and the lights
are high quality. Air horns, wipers and
two-tone mirrors look good and the door handles are
nicely modelled inserts. The roof light is clear
and lets light into the cab. Inside the cab the
two-tone finish is pleasing.
Behind the cab there is a coiled air line, and the
various
tanks are realistic with nice filler caps.
The rear lights have plastic lenses and the wheel chocks
are detailed well.
The Kogel trailer is simply modelled. It is metal and
very heavy with good wheels and there are a couple of
spare tyres. The landing legs are fixed metal parts,
and the box under
the chassis is very plain.
There is a Carrier refrigeration unit at the front and
it has realistic looking grilles. The rear end has the
rear doors lightly delineated but a highlight of the
model is the detailed graphics at the back.
Features
The Actros rolls well and the steering has a very good range of
movement.
The trailer also rolls well and when separated from the
trailer it stands just not quite level on the landing legs.
Quality
This is a high quality metal model with very little
plastic and it feels as solid as a rock.
The paintwork and graphics are very good.
Price
The model is reasonable value for money.
Overall
This version of the Actros FH25 looks very smart in its
glossy black colour scheme and the the heavy weight of
the model continues that quality feel.
Footnotes
This version of the model first appeared in Winter 2013
as a limited edition of 300 models.
