The AR 420 is a small wheel loader.

It weighs 5.3 tonnes and has a shovel capacity of 0.9 - 1.6m³.

Packaging

The model comes in a small Weycor branded box and is held between expanded polystyrene trays.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

The model is fully assembled when removed from the box.  Some spare bucket pins are included.  There is no information provided about the model or the real machine.

Detail

The underside is detailed with the transmission complete and the treaded tyres look good. They are mounted on detailed wheels.

At the rear the lights are painted and the engine cover is cast well with sharp graphics applied.  The exhaust pipe is plastic.

The cab is detailed really well with lightly tinted windows and distinct frames.  Inside the steering wheel and controls look good and there is a textured floor.  On the outside there are plastic mirrors, wipers and grab rails.

At the pivot point there are no hoses crossing, and there are soft rubber mud flaps behind the front wheels.

The loader arm is good with some silver pipes highlighted.  The hydraulic rams have plastic jackets which are slightly off-colour, but there are no hoses.

The shovel is nicely formed with sharp teeth.

Features

It rolls well and steering across the pivot point achieves a good angle.  There is oscillation across the pivot point.

The engine cover opens but the range is restricted so it is more difficult to see the engine inside.

The loader arm raises to a reasonable height which is a little short of the real machine.

The tilting of the shovel is very good.

The shovel can be removed by taking out a couple of pins.

Quality

The model is high quality which is mostly metal with some plastic elements.

The paintwork and graphics are very good.

Price

The model is reasonably priced.

Overall

This is a corporate revamp of the previous #884 model. It is a nicely executed model with a good balance of detail and functionality.
