This model is a
CIFA K47H Concrete Pump mounted on a Mercedes-Benz Arocs
8x4 chassis.
The
pump is one of CIFA's Carbotech series, with the last
two boom sections made of carbon fibre. The pump
has a maximum capacity of 140m³ per hour.
Packaging
The model comes in an CIFA branded box.
There were no defects or missing parts on the review
model.
There is some information about the real machine
on the box and a small instruction sheet describes the
pinning of the boom rams. Separate parts included are the
hopper cover, outrigger spreader plates, and pins for the
hydraulic rams on the boom.
Detail
Underneath, the chassis is fully detailed in
metal with only the steering linkages being modelled for
functionality rather than detail. The tyres
have a decent tread pattern and are the same on all
wheels.
The cab has horns and aerial on the roof, and another
small aerial and a plastic grab rail on the
driver's side. The door mirrors have some texture
and the distinctive Arocs grille is modelled with a
realistic appearance. There is a dummy number
plate front and rear.
Inside the cab, the seats have arm rests.
Most of the carrier body behind the cab is modelled in
metal, with some rubber hoses. The silver concrete
pipe is plastic. There are textured walking
surfaces and the wheel
arches are metal throughout. The lights at the
rear are painted.
The hopper is metal with a plastic grille and a metal
cover.
The front outriggers are two stage, with
the inner section
being plastic, and the larger rear outriggers are metal.
The pistons have visible screw threads.
The boom sections are metal with details in the casting.
The hydraulic lines to the rams are modelled throughout
and the plastic ram jackets have a reasonable colour
match. The concrete delivery pipe is modelled in
plastic with an excellent colour match, the connection rivets are discrete except for
the one at the boom foot, and the
graphics on each section are sharp.
Features
The truck rolls well and the front two axles have linked
steering which can be posed to a good angle,
although the tyres foul at the extreme.
The outriggers fold out and the front ones telescope.
The pads can be lowered by unscrewing and there are
separate spreader plates. The plates can be stored
in holders during transport.
At the rear the hopper can be posed either open or
closed although it is not hinged - it has to be plugged
in which does not work as well as a hinge. The
grille inside the hopper is hinged and opens.
An access step at the rear folds up and down.
The boom rotated
well on the
review model.
The boom articulation works well and the rams were able
to hold almost all poses. Pins are supplied with
the model to insert in the rams if required.
Quality
This is a heavy model with a relatively low
plastic content. It has a quality feel.
The paint
and graphics are very good.
Price
It is pricey for a concrete pump
model so perhaps the production numbers will be low.
Overall
This model is an updated version of model #851.
It is high quality, and it
is a nice looking model.
Footnotes
The model first appeared as a K45H in 2015.
This version is updated with revised graphics and was
introduced in August 2015.
