Comment on this model.

The Sennebogen 860 series machines are designed for material handling, and the 860 M version modelled here is mounted on wheels.

The real machine has an operating weight of 71 tonnes and a maximum reach of 18m.

Packaging

The model comes in a large Sennebogen-branded box, with the model contained within a pair of expanded polystyrene trays.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

There is some information about the real machine printed on the box but there are no instructions for the model.  Assembly is limited to fixing handrails and the grab.

Detail

The undercarriage is very solidly built with the drives to the axles modelled.  The large rubber tyres are high quality and are mounted on detailed metal wheels.  At each end the outrigger beams and pads are fully metal, and the silvered side frames are metal too.

The body shape is formed well and there are painted panel handles and rear lights.  A metal ladder leads to the top of the body which has lifting eyes at the rear, a rear camera and a good array of hydraulic hoses.

The 'maXcab' is very good.  The internal detailing is fine and the protection guards, grab rails and mirrors look convincing.  A bank of control cables runs from the cab to the body.

The boom has many soft hydraulic lines running to the hydraulic rams.  The cylinder jackets are plastic with a reasonable colour match.  Friction rivets are mainly used for the connections so they are not obtrusive.

The orange peel grab is all metal and very nicely engineered, with Sennebogen graphics adding nice detail.  Soft plastic hoses enable connection to the stick.

Features

The wheels roll well with both axles being fixed for vertical movement.  One axle steers and has a good range of movement.

The outriggers have rotating pads and can be fully lowered supporting the machine wheels-free.

The cab elevates smoothly and can be posed at any elevation.

The model rotates well.

The boom has a full range of movement and can be posed horizontally or vertically.  The stick also has a good range of movement.  It can also fold in so the boom is horizontal so it looks fine on a big low loader.

The grab rotates and the jaws are interlocked and open and close together.

The handrails can be removed to reduce the transport dimensions and small plastic spacers can be fitted where the walkway clips into the cab.

Quality

This is another high quality model of a Sennebogen machine from NZG with very little plastic.

The paintwork and graphics are excellent.

Price

It is reasonable value.

Overall

Overall this is a good looking model of a larger size material handler.  Both the detailing and features mean it is easy to highly recommend.
