Comment on this model.

This model is a Mercedes-Benz 4x4 Unimog U 5000 series fitted with a loader crane.

Packaging

This version of the model is delivered in a NZG-branded box with an outer shipping carton.   Inside it is held within a plastic display case.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

There is no information about the model or the real vehicle.

Detail

It has a detailed 4x4 metal chassis which includes the drivetrain, and it has the high ground clearance typical of an all-terrain truck.  The wheels have detailed covers.

The front grille looks authentic and the Mercedes-Benz logo looks sharp.  The raised air intake is included and this allows the real truck to traverse deep water.  The cab has finely painted door handles and tiny graphics.   Inside the cab the Mercedes-Benz logo on the steering wheel is just visible.  The cab roof has a hatch cover in the cab roof casting and two beacon lights.

Behind the cab the exhaust is modelled really well.

The rear lights have good looking plastic lenses and there is also a towing hitch.

The load box is metal and the drop sides are detailed and non-functional.

The loader crane is unbranded and is mostly modelled in metal.  Small outriggers have graphics applied and screw tread-type pistons.  Tiny spreader plates are also included with the model.

The plastic display case is good quality and it includes a name plate which denotes the Unimog as a U 5023.

Features

The Unimog rolls well and the steering also works well and achieves a very good angle.

Each wheel is independently sprung with a good range of movement although torsional movement of the body is not possible.

The outrigger beams pull out and the pads can be lowered.  The outrigger on the driver's side rotates and has a neat lock so that it maintains a downward position.

The crane opens up, rotates and extends smoothly.  The hook is also fully articulated.

The model can be displayed in its display case, or removed by undoing two securing screws.

It can be posed towing a suitable trailer.

Quality

This is another very good quality Unimog model from NZG with a high metal content.

The paint is very good, as are the few graphics.

Price

It is reasonable value.

Overall

Unimogs are flexible vehicles and this model version is very good with the loader crane giving many posing possibilities.
