Comment on this model.

The Genie GTH-5519 Telehandler is a compact machine with a maximum lift height of 19ft, and a maximum lifting capacity of 5500 lbs.

This model is 1:32 scale, and this is the version of the machine sold in US markets.

Genie is part of Terex.

Packaging

The model comes in a Genie branded box, and is contained in a pair of expanded polystyrene trays, and is further protected by soft paper.

There were no missing parts or defects on the review model.

There is no information about the model or the real machine.

Detail

The chassis is detailed with a plastic driveshaft linking the axles.  The wheels appear to be metal with the wheel nuts detailed, and nice small rough terrain tyres.

The cab is very good.  On the outside there are fine gauge windscreen wipers and a good beacon light and mirror.  Inside the control panel and steering wheel are detailed and look realistic.

At the back soft hydraulic hoses run to the boom, and there is a tiny Genie badge.  The engine cover is a nice metal casting with the Genie name indented and painted.  Grilles are represented by graphics.

At the front the mirrors are plastic.

The boom is two-piece metal with small pin connections, and there are some nice graphics including the boom angle indicator.  Under the boom there are painted hydraulic pipes, and the inner boom section has extension markers.

The forks and plate are metal and are fixed with black pins which are unobtrusive.

Features

Both axles steer with a moderate range of movement.

The boom elevates to a realistic angle, and the inner section telescopes smoothly with enough friction to hold a pose and a locking clip at full extension.

The plate can be angled and is controlled by a smooth cylinder.  The plate and forks can be unpinned and removed, and the forks can be positioned sideways.

Quality

This is a heavy model with a high metal content.

The graphics and paintwork are very good.

Price

It is good value when obtained from Genie Merchandise.

Overall

This is a nice quality model which is robust and has good detailing.  It also functions well and interesting poses are possible.

Footnotes

The model was announced in August 2015 and became available in November of the same year. A version for the EU market, the GTH-2506, was also produced as model 928.
