The Genie Z-60 has an articulated boom with a working height of around 20m, and a maximum outreach of 11.2m.   It comes in two versions.  The FE version is a fuel electric hybrid, and the DC version is battery only. Both versions weigh under 7 tonnes.

This model of is the FE version and is 1:32 scale.

Packaging

The model comes in a Genie branded box and is wrapped in soft paper and contained in a pair of expanded polystyrene trays.

There were no missing parts or defects on the review model.

There is no information about the model or the real machine.

Detail

There is no detail underneath the model, with the undercarriage hollow, and with a purely functional layout.  The rubber tyres have a realistic tread pattern and they are mounted on plastic wheels which are detailed on the outer faces.

The undercarriage is metal and there are simple graphics at each end.

The body has a heavy feel and a nice curved shape.  The detail is limited to the indented Genie name, and a control panel on one side which has the emergency stop button highlighted.

The riser and telescopic boom sections are engineered in metal with fairly discrete connection rivets.  The hydraulic ram jackets are plastic with simple pipe detail, but there are no hoses on the model.

The platform is mounted on a small metal rotating jib.  The handrails are metal and there is a nice mesh floor.  A simple control console is modelled.

Features

The model rolls well and the steering axle also has some sideways oscillation.  The steering angle is very good.

Rotation is good with a touch of jerkiness rather than completely smooth.

The riser section of the boom works well and the rams are stiff enough to hold a pose.

The main boom ram also has reasonable stiffness.  The telescopic section extends smoothly and there are three locking positions.

The rotating jib has a full range of movement, and the basket pivots fully.

Quality

This is a heavy model with a high metal content which makes it strong.

The graphics and paintwork are very good.

Price

It is reasonable when obtained from Genie Merchandise.

Overall

NZG has produced a nicely engineered model of the Z-60 and it is typically heavy with a high metal content.  The detail level is not high, but the model looks good on display.
