This model of it is 1:32 scale.

Genie is part of Terex Corporation.

Packaging

The model comes in a large Genie branded box and is wrapped is contained in a pair of expanded polystyrene trays.

There were no missing parts or defects on the review model.

There is no information about the model or the real machine.

Detail

Looking underneath,  the model is simple with a voided undercarriage and the front part of the body has voids too. The rubber tyres have a realistic tread pattern and they are mounted on plastic wheels which are detailed on the outer faces.

The metal undercarriage has various sharp graphics.

The solid-feeling body captures the general shape of the real machine and the indented Genie name on both sides is nicely done. There are some excellent small graphics on one side.

The articulated boom raising mechanism is modelled in metal with the boom ram having a plastic jacket.  There are no hydraulic hoses on the model.

The lower boom section is metal with very sharp graphics.  The middle section is plastic with a very good colour match, and the outermost section is metal. The cable rack on the side of the boom is not modelled.

The articulating jib is mostly metal with small unobtrusive connecting pins. The basket is metal with metal handrails and a very nice mesh floor.  The plastic control console has joysticks.

Features

The steering axle has a reasonable range of movement and it also oscillates and is controlled by hydraulic rams.

The model rolls very smoothly.

Rotation is smooth.

The boom ram is reasonably stiff and holds most poses, although it is looser at the extreme ends of the range.  The telescopic boom sections extend smoothly enough and lock when extended with spring clips.

The fully extended height scales at around 90% of what the real machine achieves.

The jib moves up and down and the basket rotates fully.

Quality

This is a heavy model with a robust quality feel.

The paintwork are very good, with some of the small graphics being excellent.

Price

It is reasonable value when obtained from the Genie Merchandise store.

Overall

NZG has produced a strong model with a high metal content.  It appears Genie were not looking for the highest level of detail when they commissioned the model.  It is large and impressive on the desk.

Footnotes
