The Komatsu PC 1250-11 Excavator is a machine in
the 100+ tonnes weight class.
This version of the model is fitted with a Lehnhoff
Quick Coupler.
Packaging
The model comes in a Komatsu branded box. Inside the
model is protected by soft paper and foam, and rests in a
pair of expanded polystyrene trays.
There were no missing parts or defects on the review
model.
It is fully assembled, and a second tool is included. A
bag of spare track links is included.
There is no information about the model or the real
machine.
Detail
The underside of the body
and undercarriage has detailing and the track pads are
metal with bolt heads and grousers. They are mounted on
track frames which have some fine casting details and working
top rollers.
The cab has
protection guards on the roof and windscreen.
There is also a beacon light, aerial and mirror. It
looks very good
inside with the joysticks and levers having a two-tone
finish.
The walkways outside have metal handrails and very fine
mesh flooring. The access stair is also metal. At
the back the counterweight has lifting eyes with holes,
work lights and video cameras. The graphics are
very sharp, and there are solid metal grilles on one
side.
Up on top the engine
cover is metal, with plastic exhausts and air cleaners.
Detailing inside the well is extensive including
hydraulics, slewing motor and other highlighted parts.
The hydraulics on the boom are modelled
with soft yellow plastic representing pipes and soft
black plastic hoses. The colour match of the plastic
hydraulic ram jackets is very good if not quite perfect.
The connection pins are discrete so the look is realistic.
The Lehnhoff Quick Coupler is an all metal part with
tiny Lehnhoff graphics.
Two tools are included. A large bucket is heavy
and well detailed including tiny Komatsu graphics. A
sharp ripper tooth is also metal with graphics.
Features
The tracks are fairly stiff
to roll. They are tensioned by a
spring loaded idler, and the track links are of the hook
variety rather than pinned.
The model rotates well
after some initial stickiness.
The access stair folds down.
There is an opening access door to the equipment well,
and it achieves a 180° angle.
Movement of the boom, stick and coupler are very
good.
The tools are interchangeable by removing a single steel
pin.
Quality
The model is heavy and has a quality feel.
The metal content is high and the paint and graphics are
really nice.
Price
The model is on the expensive side, however two
tools are included.
Overall
This is a heavy and robust large excavator model, and
the quick coupler works well.
Footnotes
The model appeared in prototype at the Nuremberg Toy
Fair in 2020, and became available in July 2020.
Standard excavator and demolition versions were also
produced. |
