Comment on this model.

The Sennebogen 875E is a material handler designed for port applications. The overall weight of the machine mounted on crawler tracks is around 165 tonnes.

This model is the crawler track version and comes with clamshell and orange peel grabs.

Packaging

The box is large, and inside the model is held within expanded polystyrene trays.

The review model had no missing parts. One hydraulic hose had a loose end which was easily reglued.

A few technical details of the real machine are included on the box but there are no instructions for the model.

Detail

The tracks are metal and they are mounted on reasonably detailed track frames with no moving rollers.

The legs are robust with the connections to the track frames detailed with bolt heads.  Steps with metal hand rails rise up to an intermediate platform which has a plastic textured floor surface.  A further ladder rises to the body platform which has more textured flooring.

The cab is metal with decent interior detailing and plastic floodlights are mounted on the roof.  The cab linkage has very good cabling running to the cab.

The body is metal and it is very nicely finished with Sennebogen embossed at the rear.  There are small graphics which add detail.

The boom and stick are mainly metal with soft hoses running along the top surface.  Hoses run to the hydraulic rams which have plastic jackets with an excellent colour match.

The clamshell grab is a metal part and hydraulic hoses are modelled.  The orange peel grab is of the same quality and looks very good.

Features

The crawler tracks roll on a rough surface, and they are spring loaded to maintain tension.

The access hatch on the body platform can be opened and closed.

The model rotates smoothly.

The cab linkage has a good range but some looseness in the rams means that not every pose can be held. One issue on the review model was that the cab platform could not quite properly match up to the body platform in the parking position.

The boom and stick movement is good.  However the boom hydraulic rams cannot hold every pose.

The clamshell grab rotates freely and swings also.  Each half opens fully but the two halves are not interlocked so they open separately.

The orange peel grab swings and each tine opens and closes separately.  There is enough stiffness to grip a load.

Quality

The quality is very good with a high metal content.

The paintwork has a good finish and the graphics are very sharp.

Price

The model is large and so is good value.

Overall

This is another impressive looking Sennebogen material handler and it looks striking in the green colour scheme.  It is good to see an incremental improvement from Ros compared to their previous similar Sennebogen model.
