The Sennebogen 613E is a
mobile telescopic crane with a 16 tonne maximum capacity and
24m maximum hook height.
This model is the wheeled mobile version.
Packaging
The
Sennebogen branded box has the model held within expanded polystyrene trays.
The review model had no
defects or missing parts.
A
simple pictorial instruction sheet is included, but
there is no information about the real machine. The
model is reeved in the box, and just the fly jib needs
to be attached to the boom.
Detail
The
wheels are detailed and the tyres look realistic.
Underneath the carrier the steering is functionally
modelled and transmission elements are modelled within
the base plate casting rather than as separate pieces.
The outriggers are metal and are decorated with nice
chevrons. Plastic stepping plates are mounted
between the wheels.
The cab
appears to be plastic although the the detailing is good
including door hinges and small graphics. Inside, the
controls include a steering wheel. A bank of plastic
cables extend from the rear of the cab.
The body is metal with high quality paint and graphics,
and the Sennebogen name is embossed at the back.
The exhaust system is plastic which appears to have a
somewhat rough finish, but there is nice diamond plated
surfacing in front of it.
The boom is detailed well although large connection
rivets spoil the look a little both at the body end and
at the boom head. There are metal pulleys in the
boom head with the main ones appearing to be a solid
block of two.
The fly jib is a metal part
with a nice luffing hydraulic ram. The large hook block has
one pulley and the single line hook
matches the fly jib well. However the model is let
down by the poor quality hoist rope which is used as it
is too stiff to have a realistic profile and many
collectors will want to replace it.
A separate
metal work platform is included, and it is a robust
part.
Features
The
wheels roll easily although they are loose on their
mountings. Both axles steer a reasonable amount.
The outrigger rams are nicely stiff and the pivoting
pads can be grounded well without being able to lift the
crane wheels-free.
The model rotates
smoothly.
The cab can be raised and lowered with some looseness in
the mechanism allowing slight cab tilt.
The boom raises but the ram is a little sticky.
The maximum boom angle seems a little less than
expected.
The boom telescopes with some stiffness, and each
section locks at full extension.
The winch
is operated by a key and it relies on friction as a
brake. However, the poor quality rope means that
both raising and lowering the hook is problematic and
plenty of intervention by hand to aid the rope movement
is required.
The fly jib can also be set to
variable offset angles using the hydraulic ram.
The work platform attaches easily, but the geometry
requires the boom to not be steep. The platform
can be adjusted to be level when the boom is horizontal.
Quality
The quality is good with a high metal content, although
the rope used is not the best.
The paintwork has a good finish and the graphics are
very sharp.
Price
It is reasonable value.
Overall
As often with Ros Models, this Sennebogen looks good
apart from the unrealistic hoist rope. There is
some very nice detailing whilst the functionality is
more mixed. A few simple enhancements would
improve the model a lot.
Footnotes
The model first appeared at the
Nuremberg Toy Fair in 2019.
