The Keestrack R3e is a hybrid powered impact crusher with an operating weight of around 30 tonnes.  The machine won a Red Dot design award in 2018.

Packaging

The model comes in a Keestrack branded box.  Inside the box, the model is contained within a pair of expanded polystyrene trays.

The review model had no defects or missing parts.

A reprint of a marketing brochure for the real machine is included.

Detail

Looking underneath,  the tracks are metal with detailed pads.  The main discharge belt is flexible rubber (as are all the belts on the model), with other detailing underneath being relatively simple.  The track frames are very simple and would have looked better with some detailing.

The main feed hopper is all metal, and some grille detailing in the hopper floor would have been more realistic, together with at the crusher entrance.

The rear of the body sides has solid large textured grey panels which represent the see-through mesh grilles of the real machine.  Around the body the panel handles are nicely detailed and the graphics are sharp.

The crusher area is detailed well, and there are soft plastic handrails on one side with a textured floor plate.

A small magnetic belt sits above the main discharge conveyor, although the belt itself is not ridged.

The secondary screen is great with an etched perforated grille.  The rams that control the secondary conveyor have plastic jackets with an excellent colour match.

The return conveyor is a single casting rather than split as on the real machine, and the hydraulic rams are detailed within the casting.

Features

The tracks are tensioned by spring-loaded idlers and they turn easily enough by hand, and roll well on a rough surface.

All of the belts on the various conveyors move easily by hand.

The magnetic conveyor can be raised up for cleaning.

The end of the secondary conveyor can be folded over for transport.  The secondary conveyor can be raised and lowered.

Quality

This model has a high metal content and is robust with a high quality feel.

The paintwork and graphics are excellent.

Price

It is understood the price reflects the quality and metal content.

Overall

This model has appeared some 7 years after the first Keestrack Frontier model., and it is good to see another Keestrack machine modelled.  It is not the most detailed model, but it is functional and feels high quality.

Footnotes
