The
Shantui SD90-5 is a bulldozer with an operating weight
of around 106 tonnes. Shantui is a Chinese OEM.
Packaging
The model comes in a windowed Shantui branded box. Inside the box, the
model is contained within a pair of plastic formers.
The review model had
no defects or missing parts.
A plastic pointer is included.
Detail
Looking underneath, the tracks are metal with detailed
pads. A transverse linkage between the track frames is
modelled. The track frames are very detailed, but
there are no working rollers.
At the rear, the ripper assembly is robust with the
shank having a sharp tooth. The hydraulics are
particularly good with soft hoses and good-looking ram
jackets.
There are metal handrails around the cab with some
textured walking surfaces. The cab is very
detailed with lights and wipers, and inside Shantui is
written on the seat back, and the console has detailing
too.
The engine area has impressive see-through grilles with
some modelling of the components inside. There are
detailed graphics on the outside.
The large blade has a see-through grille at the top, and
wear plate detail at the bottom.
It has a metal structure with a plastic face plate.
Features
The tracks are tensioned by spring-loaded idlers and
they turn very easily by hand, and roll well on a
rough surface.
The ripper can be raised and lowered however the shank
cannot be pinned at different lengths.
The blade tilts forward and can be raised with an
excellent range of movement.
The cab doors on both sides can be opened.
Quality
This model has a high metal content and is
robust with a high quality feel.
The paintwork and graphics are excellent.
Price
It is anticipated the price is reasonable.
Overall
Although the scale is unusual, this is a good
looking high quality model. It is a nice
combination of detail and functionality.
