The DAF 2800  was produced between 1973 and 1987.  This model is in the colours of M. Mooy, a Dutch haulage company.

Packaging

The model comes in a Tekno style box decorated in the the Classic Line series.  The packaging is high quality with the model enclosed within black foam rubber.

There was no damage or missing parts on the review model.

A Certificate of Origin is included which is uniquely numbered within the limited run of 175 models.

There is no information about the real truck.

Detail

The chassis is very detailed and includes texturing on the engine sump. The transmission and suspension parts are all modelled.  There are different tyres on the driven and steering axles, and the wheels are excellent.

The cab has air horns and two Michelin Men figures on the roof.  The headboard has very sharp graphics. The chrome mirrors look good and the DAF grille is convincing with nice old-style circular headlights.  There is also a realistic number plate.  The cab windows have realistic window seals and there are highlighted door handles.

Behind the cab the body shape has been modelled well.  There are coiled lines, a textured stepping plate and the rear lights have plastic lenses.  The split rear wheel arches look very good.

The trailer is solidly made and heavy.  It is a classic style and underneath there is the old style of landing legs.  The wheels are very detailed and look great, although they were not all full grounded on the review model.

The quality of the paintwork and graphics is very high.

At the back the door locks and hinges are modelled and there are many small graphics.

Replica timbers in plastic are provided, and they allow the trailer to be supported on the landing legs in a level position.

Features

The DAF has a very good  steering angle and it rolls well too.

It has a tilting cab which works well and it reveals a detailed engine.

The trailer rolls well when connected to the tractor, or can be posed on the support timbers.  Each of the axles has sprung suspension but slight differences in the springs meant that not all axles were fully grounded.

Quality

This model has a high metal content and is high quality.

The paintwork and graphics are of a very high standard.

Price

The model is fully priced for a model of this type.

Overall

Tekno has produced a high quality classic model, and it is nicely presented too.  A high point is the standard of detailing of the DAF.
