This model is a
MAN TGX XXL 8x4 + Ballast Box. It is in the colours
of the Dutch lifting and haulage specialist, Mammoet.
Packaging
The box has some Mammoet branding and photos of some
Mammoet equipment. Inside, the model is contained
within folded cardboard.
The review model had no missing parts, but one
beacon light was detached in the box and had to be
reglued.
The only assembly to do is to fit door mirrors and add
the ballast box.
Detail
The underside of the MAN has reasonable detailing in
the plastic parts. The tyres have a tread pattern.
The cab is metal and nicely decorated in Mammoet colours
and a fleet number is included. There are beacon
lights on the roof, and the front grille is very good
for the scale.
The equipment tower is plastic.
The ballast box is a metal part with sharp graphics.
Features
The MAN rolls well although the rear axle on the
review model was wobbly. It does not have steering.
The ballast box is removable.
Quality
The quality is good for an inexpensive model.
The paintwork has a good finish and the graphics are
very sharp.
Price
It is good value.
Overall
This is a decent model in 1:87 scale, and goes
well with other Mammoet fleet models. It would fit well
on a model railway layout in the same scale.
Footnotes
The Mammoet model number is 900034.
