Moving a
box trailer. |
|
The Terberg YT 182 is a yard tractor used for
martialling trailers. It does this by having
an elevating fifth wheel that raises the trailer so that
the trailer landing legs do not have be raised and
lowered with every move.
Terberg makes a variety of special vehicles.
Packaging
The model comes in a
Terberg branded box with the
model held within a pair of polystyrene trays.
There were
no missing parts or defects on the review model.
There is no information on the real machine included,
and no instructions for the model either.
Detail
This is a highly detailed model which is facilitated by
the relatively high plastic content.
The chassis is very detailed with the engine, gearbox
and transmission all present. Tanks are modelled,
and there are thin tyres on the wheels.
The large cab has very thin windscreen wipers and the
plastic mirrors and grab rails are thin. Inside
the cab the detailed console is excellent.
Behind the
cab there is a nice exhaust and coiled lines.
The walkways and steps have texture.
The lights at the front and back have tiny lenses.
Features
The front axle steers but with a very limited
range of movement which is a pity given that
maneuverability is a feature of the real tractor.
The cab tilts forward and holds the pose. There is
a detailed engine under the cab.
The fifth wheel elevates to a good height and the rams
are stiff enough to support lifting a trailer. However
the pistons will pull out of the jackets if pulled to
far. The fifth wheel is designed for models
with thinner king pins rather than fatter ones used by
some model makers.
Quality
The model is very good quality but with a high plastic
content. The metal parts are the cab and chassis
frame.
The paintwork and few graphics are excellent.
Price
The model is moderate value.
Overall
This is an interesting model of an unusual vehicle.
It looks very good and only its light weight indicates
that more plastic is used than usual.
Nonetheless the key feature of the model works well
enough.
Footnotes
The model first appeared in 2016 in yellow and white
versions. |
