The Komatsu WX22H is a hybrid loader used in underground mining and as such it is a low headroom machine.  It has an operational weight of around 60 tonnes.

Packaging

It comes in a Komatsu branded box.   Inside, the model is contained between a pair of factory-sealed expanded polystyrene trays.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

Detail

The underside has some detailing within the castings.  The rubber-type tyres have a good tread pattern and they are mounted on wheels which have detailed graphics on the hubs.

The rock bucket is a large metal part with some tooth detailing on the bottom edge.

The loader arm mechanism has discrete pins connecting the hydraulic rams, with hoses running to main rams. Tiny bolt heads have silver highlighting. There are more tiny graphics on the wheel arches and also on the tanks at the pivot point.

The operator's cab has wipers, a metal grab rail and sharp graphics.  A tiny and delicate aerial sticks out of the back of the cab.  The interior is very detailed with control consoles having graphics applied.  The inside of the door also has a panel which adds detail.

At the rear there are metal handrails and excellent etched steps.  The engine detailing on both sides of the machine is first rate with paint highlighting and graphics.

At the rear there is a mesh door.

Features

The wheels roll well and steering across the pivot point achieves a reasonable angle but less than the real machine achieves.

The cab door opens to a good angle.

The rear mesh door to the radiator opens. However, on the review model it tended to stay slightly ajar.

The loader arm reaches a very good height and the tipping angle is excellent.  The carry angle is a little shallow.

Quality

This a very good quality scale model with a high metal content, and plastic used to provide detailing.

The paint and graphics are excellent.

Price

It is moderate value for the quality offered.

Overall

The stand-out aspect of this model is the detailing, which is at a very high level.  Overall, the model poses well and looks impressive.
