This commercial vehicle is a truck and trailer in the colours of Ekdahls Åkeri, a Swedish company founded in 1953.
The tractor is a Volvo FH3 Globetrotter XL Box Truck and the Trailer is 3-axle with a 2-axle dolly.
Packaging
The models are packed in a long standard WSI branded box with the parts contained in a polystyrene tray and held between clear plastic formers.
There were no missing parts or defects on the review models.
There is no information provided about the real vehicle.
Detail
The Volvo box truck chassis and transmission is very good with the parts mostly metal, and the wheels are very detailed with different tyres on the front and rear axles.
The cab is good with excellent light bars top bottom, and a the number plate displayed by the real truck. The cab interior is very good and includes a logo on the seat backs.
The box section is metal and the graphics are excellent. Large fuel tanks are on either side of the chassis and are protected by metal panels. The exhaust pipes are represented by graphics also.
At the rear there is a non-functional loading platform which has more high quality graphics.
The trailer is a 3-axle box with a 2-axle dolly. The dolly has a metal structure with plastic wheel arches and fairings. The wheels are detailed.
The trailer chassis has the suspension modelled well and the tyres are mounted on detailed wheels. The landing legs are metal with realistic smooth pistons.
At the front there is a refrigeration unit with a nice mesh grille. The box is a strong metal piece. It is decorated to the very high standard of the box truck. The lights and other details at the rear are very good.
Features
The Volvo truck has steering and it has a reasonable range of movement prior to the wheels fouling.
The rear axle can be clipped out of surface.
The dolly has suspension on both axles but it is not sprung. The drawbar is pinned and can be lengthened.
The trailer axles have very good sprung suspension, and the landing legs can be lowered by unscrewing. If desired the trailer can be fitted directly to a tractor.
When fully configured an impressive vehicle results that is 52cm long.
Quality
This model is high quality with little plastic, and it feels robust.
The paintwork and graphics are excellent.
Price
The model is not cheap but reflects the quality of the finish and that it is a limited edition.
Overall
As a show piece this is a great model because of the high quality artwork. It is well made and high quality.
