Comment on this model.

Hämmerle is an Austrian heavy haulage specialist and is part of the Big Move network.  Hämmerle was formed in 2001.

This tractor is a MAN TGX XXL 8x4.

Packaging

The packaging is in WSI's style but it is Big Move branded.  The model rests in an expanded polystyrene tray with a clear plastic lid.

There were no missing parts on the review model, although one of the front tyres was the incorrect type.

There is no information provided about the real truck or model and there is no assembly to do.

Detail

As usual for a WSI model the chassis detailing is really good.  The gearbox is silver and there is a prop shaft to the rear axles.  The tyres have different treads on the front and rear axle pairs, and are mounted on detailed wheels with smart trims which are painted on the front wheels.  The tyres have the make and type printed on the sidewalls which provides additional detail although perhaps not all collectors will like it.

The cab is fully detailed with windscreen wipers and colour coded mirrors, and the roof has beacon lights, horns and heavily tinted roof light, and it only lacks the aerials of the real truck.  The MAN model number on the cab is TGX 33.540.  It bears the number plate and fleet number of the real truck.

Inside the cab, the details include moulded seats and outside at the back is an air conditioner.  Under the cab is a detailed engine and it has 'Common Rail' written in tiny text.

Behind the cab, the equipment tower is plastic and comprises a fuel tank and cabinets.  Coiled lines are available to connect into a trailer.

Diamond plated surfacing extends to the fifth wheel, and plastic wheel arches cover the rear three axles.  At the back, the lights have plastic lenses and there is a number plate.

Features

The steering has a limited range of movement.

The cab tilts forward to about 45° and can pose in the tilted position.

Quality

It is well made with very good paint and graphics, some of which are very small.

Price

The model is reasonably priced.

Overall

WSI has produced another highly detailed heavy haulage tractor and it looks attractive in the Hämmerle colour scheme.
