This tractor is a MAN TGX XXL 8x4 with Ballast Box.
It is in the colours of Istrans, a French heavy haulage company.
Packaging
It comes in a WSI branded box with the model resting in a plastic former within an expanded polystyrene tray with a clear plastic lid.
There were no missing parts on the review model but one graphic element was installed upside down.
There is no information provided about the real machine or model and the assembly is limited to fixing the towing hitches and ballast box.
Detail
The chassis is very detailed and the tyres have different treads on the front and rear axles, and are mounted on detailed wheels with very smart trims.
The cab has colour coded mirrors, with horns and beacon lights on the roof. The rooflight in the cab is not see-through. There is a towing hitch with a 'Convoi Exceptionnel' sign at the front and a realistic number plate.
The Istrans livery looks smart in black with detailed sharp graphics.
Inside the cab, the details are reasonable. Under the cab is a detailed engine with 'V8' printed on it.
Behind the cab, the equipment tower is very good and the fan under the mesh grille looks particularly good. There are various hoses modelled. One graphic was installed upside down so that the speed limit signs were inverted.
Diamond plated surfacing extends to the fifth wheel. At the back, the lights have plastic lenses, there is a number plate, towing hitch and plastic mud flaps.
The metal ballast box is plain and the plastic cover is nicely rippled to represent tarpaulin.
Features
The steering has a shallow range of movement.
The cab tilts forward to about 45° and can pose in the tilted position.
The ballast box and is removable. The ballast box cover is separately removable.
The towing hitches at the front and rear have removable pins and covers.
Quality
It is a relatively heavy model with plastic used appropriately.
The paintwork and graphics are high quality.
Price
This is a limited edition model and it is appropriately priced.
Overall
WSI has produced another high quality heavy haulage truck, and this one is good looking in the Istrans colour scheme.
