Comment on this model.

This model is a DAF XF 105 Super Space Cab 4x2 Tractor with a 3-axle Van Hool Swap Body Trailer and Tank Container.

It is in the colours of KVG Trans, a Belgian company.

Packaging

The model comes in a WSI branded box and is contained in an expanded polystyrene tray with a plastic lid.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

There is no information about the real vehicle, and no instructions are supplied for the model.

Detail

The tractor unit is a DAF XF 105 4x2 unit.  The modelling of the chassis is to a high standard, with realistic suspension and transmission elements, and a full exhaust system.  Detail on the wheels is good, and there are different tyres on the steered and driven axles.

The cab has authentic detailing with number plates and colour-coded door mirrors with indicators, and lights on the roof.  The interior is very good too with DAF on the seats and steering wheel.  The KVG Trans livery is attractive with sharp graphics.

A detailed engine is modelled under the cab and it bears the PACCAR name.

Behind the cab there are coiled air lines and diamond non-slip surfacing.  At the rear of the tractor the lights have plastic lenses.

The trailer structure is simple but the detail is enhanced by the pipes and tanks.  The axles are simple but model the suspension, and the wheels look good.  There are a couple of landing legs including a winding handle.

Along the sides there are tie-down loops which are chromed and moveable.

At the rear the surface of the trailer is high quality and includes access stairs, and a couple of wheel chocks add detail.  The drainage system from the rear sump has been replicated and the lights are good with the Van Hool name on the mud flaps.

The Tank Container is a heavy part, mostly in metal.  The support structure is modelled well with the ladder and top walking surfaces being the highlights.  The tank is very nicely made and painted, with great graphics.

Features

The steering on the DAF is loose but turns a reasonable amount.

The cab tilts to reveal the engine, and can stay tilted.  Although the cab is heavy, the tractor just stays in balance with the cab tilted.

All the axles on the trailer have effective working suspension with good movement.

The landing legs can be screwed down revealing smooth pistons.

The trailer can be run empty, or have the tank container fitted.  Small clips are supplied which can be used to provide locking points for a larger container size.

Quality

This is a high quality model, mostly metal, with plastic used appropriately.

The paintwork and graphics are to a high standard.

Price

It is good value for the quality offered.

Overall

This is a fine model of a commercial vehicle by WSI, with the tank container being modelled particularly well.  It looks really good in the colours of KVG Trans.
