Comment on this model.
This model is a Mercedes-Benz Actros 6x2 MP4
Tractor with a Schmitz Refrigerated Trailer. It is in the colours of
Wetter Transport, a Danish company.
Packaging
The packaging is a typical WSI branded box with the
model sitting in plastic formers seated in an expanded polystyrene tray.
There were no missing parts or defects on the review
model.
There is no information provided about the real truck
or model.
Detail
The Actros chassis is a 6x2 with a highly detailed
transmission and suspension modelled in metal.
Also the gearbox, exhaust system, and tank are modelled
well too.
The tyres have different tread patterns front and rear
and the wheels are nicely decorated in the Wetter colour
scheme.
The cab has aerodynamic faring, with aerials and horns on
the roof. The colour-coded door mirrors and distinctive
grille look impressive. There is a
realistic number plate. The cab artwork
is very high quality.
Interior detail is good with a two tone colour
scheme, and the Mercedes logo is just visible on the steering wheel.
Behind the cab there are coiled lines and the wheel
arches are plastic. The light bar at the rear is highly
detailed with individual lenses for the lights, and the number plate.
The trailer is heavy as it is mostly metal with the
exception of the red boxes underneath. The axle
assemblies are modelled well with nice wheels and the
landing legs are detailed with a fine winding handle.
At the front the Thermo King refrigeration unit is
detailed well with connection points for lines from
the tractor provided underneath. The graphics on the
sides are very sharp and clear.
At the rear the door bolts and hinges are nicely
highlighted. The lights have plastic lenses, and there are
tiny side lights.
Features
The
Actros has linked steering which only achieves a shallow
angle.
The cab tilts to reveal a detailed engine but it is just
able
to maintain a tilted pose.
The trailer has working suspension with each axle
individually sprung.
The landing legs at the front can be lowered to support
the trailer when disconnected from a tractor, with
smooth sided pistons.
Quality
This model is very high quality with limited plastic.
The paintwork and graphics are very good.
Price
The model is reasonable value.
Overall
As another version of the Actros MP4, this is a good
looking model in the Wetter livery. The features
are reasonably good although opening trailer doors would
have been nice.
Footnotes
The model appeared in November 2014.
