Comment on this model.

The truck is a Volvo FH4 with a 3-axle AMT Tipper Trailer.

It is in the colours of the Danish haulage company Aksel Junker.

Packaging

It comes in a standard WSI-branded windowed box with the model contained in an expanded polystyrene tray with plastic formers.

There were no missing parts or defects on the review model.

There are no instructions for the model, and no information about the real truck.

Detail

The Volvo chassis appears to be a 6x4 with the third axle a driven single, although WSI list it as a 6x2, and there are different tyre types on the driven axles.  The transmission and suspension are very good and the wheels are very detailed.

The cab is beautifully decorated and includes small aerials on the roof and a very realistic Volvo grille. There is a realistic number plate and the interior detailing is good.

Under the cab is a detailed engine bearing the Volvo name, with different coloured components.  On the back of the cab there are good casting details, and behind it there are coiled lines and extensive anti-slip surfacing.

At the back the unusual lights have plastic lenses.

The trailer also has a very detailed chassis and there are cables/hoses running the length of the trailer.  The suspension detailing is very good, as is the wheel detailing.  The structure is replicated well, and there is a spare wheel.

At the front, the landing legs have a winding handle and the side protection plates ahead of the wheels is plastic. At the back the lights and graphics are very good.

The tipper body is very good.  At the front the access ladders and steps are metal, and the body sides are metal with panel grooves in the casting.  The graphics are extremely sharp.  At the back the tailgate detailing is very good also.

A plastic cover representing tarpaulin has nice realistic texturing.

Features

The Volvo steers but with a very limited range of movement.

The cab tilts forward to about 45° and can be posed in the tilted position.

The trailer has spring loaded suspension on the axles, and the landing legs can be screwed up and down.

The multi-stage ram elevating the tipper body elevates to about 40º although there was some looseness in the ram so not all positions could be posed.

The tailgate swings open.

The trailer can have the tarpaulin cover fitted or left off, and the internal struts are removable.

Quality

It is high quality with a sparing and appropriate use of plastic.

The paintwork and graphics are very good.

Price

The model is good value.

Overall

This is one of those truck models that looks really attractive because of the colour scheme and graphics.  The tipper trailer is very nicely modelled also.
