Comment on this model.

This is a model of a Volvo FH4 Globetrotter 4x2 with a Bulthuis Tipper Trailer.  The real trailer has an aluminium body for low weight and maximum payload.

It is in the colours of Kingma Transport, a Dutch company.

Packaging

The packaging is a standard WSI branded box with the model contained within plastic formers within an expanded polystyrene tray.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

There is no information about the real truck or model.

Detail

The Volvo is a 4x2 configuration with the transmission and suspension nicely detailed.  The wheels are smart and have different tyre types on different axles.

The cab shape is modelled well with a light bar on the roof.  The grille looks convincing and realistic number plate adds detail. The livery and graphics are applied well.

Under the engine cover is a detailed engine with the Volvo name on it.

Behind the cab are coiled air lines and anti-slip surfacing, and nice side skirts with interesting graphics.  At the back the lights have plastic lenses and there is a number plate.

The tipper trailer is fairly heavy with little plastic used.  The chassis structure detail is very good with the beams having realistic flanges, and the axles are well detailed including hoses.  Large chunky tyres are mounted on the wheels which are very smart.  The landing legs are metal with a finely modelled winding handle.  The multi-stage hydraulic lift cylinder is metal.

The tipper body has fine panel detailing although the underside is plain rather than ribbed.  There is a neat but large-looking hand shovel clipped on the front behind the metal ladder.

The cover system is also metal and very well made with graphics that are very sharp.

Features

The Volvo has good steering with a reasonable range before the wheels foul the wheel arches.

The cab tilts and can pose tilted.

On the tipper axles 1 and 3 have linked steering and this works really well although it is not linked to the fifth wheel.  Each axle has sprung suspension.

The landing legs can be lowered to support the trailer and they do not show screw threads. They were slightly short on the review model.

The main lift cylinder is stiff enough to hold any pose, and the body can be raised to an angle of around 45°.  The tailgate opens and closes, and is free-swinging.

The cover system is engineered really well with each half able to open fully and fold flush with the body sides.

Quality

This model is high quality with a high metal content.

The paintwork is very good with high quality graphics.

Price

The model is good value for a limited edition.

Overall

This is an attractive looking truck in the Kingma livery, and the trailer is high quality giving the whole model a nice feel.
