Comment on this model.

This is a model of a Volvo FH3 Globetrotter XL 8x4 with a Broshuis 3+7 100 tonne Trailer in the colours of Bring.

Broshuis is a Dutch trailer company founded in 1885.

Bring is a Norwegian company which carries out a wide range of transport services.

Packaging

The model comes in a WSI branded outer box, and it is contained within an expanded polystyrene tray, with the model held between clear plastic formers.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

A very good leaflet describes the trailer model, and the reverse side has information about the real trailer and some nice photos.  An additional card warns against tilting the cab because of the bull bar.

Detail

The Volvo is an 8x4 with the usual very good chassis and a well-detailed suspension and transmission.  The wheels have painted hubs with different tyres on the front and rear axles.

There is a pair of Michelin men on the roof and together with the bull bar they make for a stand out model.  The Bring colour scheme is also attractive.   There is a realistic number plate.

Behind the cab there are coiled air lines and the equipment tower is plastic with cabinets.  At the rear the lights have plastic lenses.

The trailer consists of a gooseneck, 3-axle dolly and 7-axle trailer, and it is all highly detailed.

The gooseneck has nice replica timber inlay and a textured surface.  There are many tiny graphics, and nice flexible hoses at the rear and two landing legs.  Warning markers press in, and a plastic canopy can be fitted.  It has subtle texturing and two spare wheels.

The dolly and trailer have a detailed underside, with the suspension and steering modelled.  The wheels are detailed and they have decent tyres.

Details along the edges of the dolly and trailer are very good with a stripe and tiny Broshuis graphics.  At the rear the lights and mud flap look realistic.  The rear stabilisers are modelled, but are not functional.

A separate pack of metal deck posts are provided and these plug into holes in the deck edge.  Plastic timbers can be fitted between the width extension beams in the deck edge.  Two pairs of marker boards can be attached to the dolly and the rear end of the trailer if required.

Features

The Volvo has limited linked steering on the front two axles.

The gooseneck has landing legs which can be unscrewed and lowered.   The trailer connection angle is controlled by rams which are reasonably stiff.

The canopy or deck posts can be fitted to the gooseneck.  Marker boards can be fitted for normal transport or wide loads.

All the trailer and dolly axles have effective working suspension with good movement.

The dolly has linked steering which is linear in nature, and it has a short extending beam.

The trailer has linked steering on the front two axles, and separate linked steering on the rear five axles which is proportional.

The trailer has an extending beam.

Both the dolly and the trailer can have deck posts fitted.  For wider loads there is a load floor width adjustment and this works with tiny extension beams which can be pulled out and then replica timber beams can be laid between them.

Various marker boards can be fitted at the rear of the trailer.

The truck can be configured without the dolly if required.

Quality

This is a high quality model with a high metal content.

The paintwork and graphics are of a very high standard.

Price

The model is decent value for a large heavy hauler.

Overall

This is a very good model of a Broshuis heavy haulage trailer and it is well detailed with plenty of  functionality.  It also stands out in the Bring colour scheme.
