The tractor is a MAN TGX XXL 8x4 and the
trailer is a Nooteboom 5-axle MPX Semi Low Loader.
It is in the colours of
Silvasti, a heavy haulage company based in Finland
which was started in 2002.
Packaging
The packaging is the usual WSI-branded
windowed box.
There were no defects or missing parts on the review
model.
Included with the model is a good quality manual which
describes the real Nooteboom trailer and includes photos
of it, and the main features of the model are also
described.
Detail
The chassis is very detailed and the tyres have
different treads on the front and rear axles, and are
mounted on detailed wheels with very smart trims.
The cab has colour-coded mirrors, with horns and beacon
lights on the roof. At the front there is a
towing hitch with an optional cover and a realistic
number plate.
The Silvasti livery is rendered really well and the
graphics are sharp. Inside the cab, the details
are reasonable. Under the cab is a detailed engine with
MAN Common Rail printed on it.
Behind the cab, the equipment tower is very good and the
fan under the mesh grille looks particularly good.
There are various hoses modelled. Diamond plated
surfacing extends to the fifth wheel. At the back,
the lights have plastic lenses, there is a number plate,
towing hitch and plastic mud flaps.
The trailer is assembled as one piece.
The gooseneck has fixed sides and there is a spare wheel
at the front. There are some excellent tiny graphics on
the control console on
the left side. The underneath of the gooseneck is
also very detailed with hoses and tanks.
The trailer is very detailed underneath and includes
hoses, tanks and wheel chocks. There are tiny graphics
along the deck edge and there is very nice highlighting
of the bolt heads on the access plates above the pendle
axles. The detailing at the back is also
excellent.
Tiny plastic extension beams for supporting timber edge
extensions are modelled, and the replica timbers are
included, and holes for deck posts are
provided. The metal posts are
included with the model also.
Features
The MAN has linked steering
with a limited range of movement.
The cab tilts forward to about 45° and can pose in the
tilted position.
The gooseneck has working cylinders so different angles
can be set.
Marker boards under the gooseneck can be extended or
retracted.
The axles have very good proportional steering on axles
2 to 5, and axles 3 to 5 have sprung suspension.
Axles 1 and 2 can be raised out of service with a good
ground clearance.
The deck is extendible.
The deck can be configured with deck posts and extra
plastic timbers to extend the width.
Quality
This model is very high quality.
The paintwork and graphics are to a high standard.
Price
The model is reasonable value.
Overall
This version of the Nooteboom MPX is excellent in terms
of detail and functionality. It is matched by the
MAN, and the whole model looks really good in Silvasti
colours.
