This is a model of a
Scania R6 Streamline 6x2 tractor with a Broshuis 4-axle semi low
loader.
It is in the colours
of the Danish Haulage company
Karsten V Olesen.
Packaging
The model comes in a WSI Models branded box with a window,
and it is held between plastic formers.
There were no missing parts on the review model. However, a
beacon light and screw were detached from the Scania and
were easily refitted.
There are quite a few parts supplied
for the trailer, but no instructions.
Detail
The tractor is a
Scania R6 Streamline 6x2 unit. It has a very
detailed chassis, with
the suspension and transmission modelled. The
wheel hubs are particularly nice, and there are different tyre
tread patterns front and rear.
The cab looks beautiful in the Olesen decoration, and
the excellent graphics also extend to the door mirrors. There
are two Michelin men on the roof, and the numerous
lights are really good. Behind the cab, there are coiled lines, and a
plastic cabinet. The wheel arches and diamond
plating are superbly painted and highlighted. The rear
lights and mud flap look great too.
The trailer is highly detailed. Underneath, the structure
of the trailer is modelled well, with the axles having the suspension fully represented,
and there are hoses running to each wheel. At the front
there are a couple of landing legs. Rear legs for
the loading ramps are modelled but are not functional.
The surface of the trailer is very good with the screw holes modelled
in the replica timber deck. Details along the edges of
the trailer include a white stripe and there are some
detailed 'micro' graphics on the gooseneck.
On one side there is a control console box.
The gooseneck has sides for a storage box
which are metal but hard to fit well. There are some tiny
detailed graphics on the front edges of the gooseneck.
The trailer width can be extended with boards and there
are also parts for securing a container, and there is a
support beam and a pack of deck posts supplied.
Separate ramps are provided for accessing the trailer at
the rear end, and plates for accessing the gooseneck.
A pair
of width markers loosely attaches at the rear end of the trailer
if required, and a couple of pull-out ones are stowed under
the gooseneck.
Features
The Scania has a steerable axle with some
movement. The model rolls nicely.
Under the tilting cab is a nice engine.
The trailer has plenty of features. All the axles have
effective working suspension with good movement, and the
rear two axles are linked with self-steering and can
adopt a reasonable angle.
At the front the landing legs can be screwed down, and
the marker boards stowed under the gooseneck can be slid
into position.
The trailer bed can be extended to almost double its length. For wider loads
the trailer has a load floor width adjustment and this works
with tiny extension beams which can be pulled out and
then replica timber beams can be laid between them.
Other configuration options are provided by the gooseneck
storage. Locks for attaching shipping containers
are also supplied, as is a transverse support beam.
Loading
plates for the gooseneck and rear loading ramps are also included.
Quality
This is another well made high quality truck model from
WSI.
The paintwork and graphics are excellent.
Price
The model is reasonable value as a limited edition.
Overall
This is a particularly beautiful looking model with
excellent graphics and detailing on the Scania. It looks
great with a suitable load.
Footnotes
The model appeared in
September 2018.
