Good looking DAF.
Mirrored tower behind the cab.
Tilting cab.
Excellent textures on the gooseneck.

Detailed ramps.
Extended trailer.
Impressive.
Carrying heavy crane parts.
Convincing heavy haulage.

The tractor is a DAF XF SuperSpace 8x4 and the trailer is a Nooteboom 5-axle MPX Semi Low Loader.

It is in the colours of Twan Bierings, a heavy haulage company based in the Netherlands which was founded in 2005.

Packaging

The packaging is the usual WSI-branded windowed box.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

Included with the model is a good quality manual which describes the real Nooteboom trailer and includes photos of it, and the main features of the model are also described.

Detail

The chassis is very detailed and the tyres have different treads on the front and rear axles,  The wheels look particularly good in their chrome and blue trim.

The cab has colour-coded mirrors, with horns and beacon lights on the roof.  There is a light bar and 'Bertie Bierings' is printed on the headboard.  At the front the grille looks convincing and there is a Convoi Exceptionnel sign and a realistic number plate.

On the side of the cab the graphics are very sharp.  Inside the cab, the details are reasonable.  Under the cab is a detailed engine.

Behind the cab, the equipment tower has a highly mirrored finish with 'Ace of Spades' etched in.  There are coiled lines and diamond plated surfacing extends to the fifth wheel.  At the back, the lights have plastic lenses, there is a number plate, towing hitch and plastic mud flaps.

The trailer is assembled as one piece.

The gooseneck has fixed sides and there is a spare wheel at the front.  There are some excellent tiny graphics on the control console on the left side.  The underneath of the gooseneck is also very detailed with hoses and tanks.

The trailer is very detailed underneath and includes hoses, tanks and wheel chocks.  There are tiny graphics along the deck edge and there is very nice highlighting of the bolt heads on the access plates above the pendle axles.  The detailing at the back is also excellent.

The ramps are very detailed and the support chains look a realistic size.

Tiny plastic extension beams for supporting timber edge extensions are modelled, and the replica timbers are included, and holes for deck posts are provided.  The metal posts are included with the model also.

Features

The DAF has linked steering with a limited range of movement.  It was a little loose on the review model.

The cab tilts forward to a limited degree and can pose in the tilted position showing the detailed engine underneath.

The gooseneck has working cylinders so different angles can be set.

Marker boards under the gooseneck can be extended or retracted.

The axles have very good proportional steering on axles 2 to 5, and axles 3 to 5 have sprung suspension.

Axles 1 and 2 can be raised out of service with a good ground clearance.

The ramps can be lowered.

The deck is extendible.

The deck can be configured with deck posts and extra plastic timbers to extend the width.

Quality

This model is very high quality.

The paintwork and graphics are to a high standard.

Price

The model is reasonable value.

Overall

Twan Bierings has a reputation for good-looking trucks and this one has been modelled very well by WSI Models.  It looks convincing and poses well with a load on board.
