The truck is a Volvo FH4 with a
3-axle AMT Tipper Trailer.
It is a highly decorated truck run by the German haulage company Hilker,
with the artwork produced by the Roland Just Airbrush
Studio.
Packaging
It comes in a
standard WSI-branded
windowed box with the model contained in an expanded
polystyrene tray with plastic formers.
There were no missing parts
or defects on the review model.
There are no instructions for the model, and no
information about the real truck.
Detail
The Volvo
FH4 is a 4x2 Globetrotter XL. The transmission and
suspension are very good and the wheels are very
detailed. There are different tyre types on the driven
and steered axles.
The cab
is beautifully decorated. It includes small aerials
and a light bar on
the roof, with the Hilker name above a decorated visor.
The Volvo grille is intricate with the graphics
carefully applied. There is a realistic number plate and
the interior detailing is good with Volvo on the
seatbacks.
Under the cab is a detailed engine bearing the Volvo
name, with different coloured components.
On the back
of the cab there are good casting details with the
graphics applied very well. The structure inside
the side farings is modelled, although on the real truck
these are air brush decorated rather than plain. There are coiled lines
and anti-slip surfacing. At the back the lights have plastic lenses
and Volvo is printed on the mud flaps.
The trailer also has a very detailed chassis and there
are cables/hoses
running the length of the trailer. The suspension
detailing is very good, as is the wheel detailing.
The structure is replicated well, and there is a spare
wheel.
At the front, the landing legs have a winding handle and
the side protection bars ahead of the wheels is
plastic. At the back the lights and graphics are very
good.
The tipper body
is different from that of the real truck which slopes
forward at the front. The decoration is excellent,
and the graphics are extremely sharp. At the front the
access ladders and steps are metal, and the body sides
are metal with panel grooves in the casting. At the back the
tailgate detailing is very good also.
A plastic cover representing tarpaulin has realistic texturing
to imitate tarpaulin.
Features
The Volvo
steers but with a reasonable range of movement.
The cab tilts forward to about 45° and can be posed in the
tilted position.
The trailer has spring loaded suspension on the axles,
and the landing legs can be screwed up and down.
The multi-stage ram elevating the tipper body elevates
to about 40º although there was some looseness in
the top section of the ram.
The tailgate swings open,
but for bottom discharge only.
The trailer can have the tarpaulin cover fitted or left off,
and the internal struts are removable.
Quality
It is high quality with appropriate use of
plastic.
The paintwork and graphics are excellent.
Price
The model is
good value for a limited edition.
Overall
This model has the usual WSI high detail and
functionality. However, what sets this model apart is
the excellent decoration.
Footnotes
The model appeared in January 2021.
