Comment on this model.

This set tells the story of Van Seumeren Transport through a selection of classic DAF trucks.

The company started in 1956 in Uithoorn and the early trucks modelled are the T-15 from 1959, and a 1600 torpedo.  The 2000 DO was used in the 1960s with deployment on international ferry services.

The Type 2600 was introduced in the early 1960's and was also used for international operations.

The Van Seumeren crane company started in 1966 in De Meern, and the 3600 ATI was one of the few twin axle trucks in the fleet.

Van Seumeren transport based in Houten specialised in refrigerated transport and the 3600 SpaceCab was also used for transport of crane sections.

Packaging

The model comes in a Mammoet presentation box design with the models held within foam rubber.

There were no defects or missing parts on the set.

There is a Mammoet Collect Card although it does not have a unique serial number for the set.  A small booklet is included and this tells the story of Van Seumeren's DAF Trucks including photos or the old trucks from the Seumeren-Mammoet archive.

Detail

All of the DAFs are modelled to a high standard.

The chassis are very detailed. They have nice exhaust systems and the suspension includes leaf springs where appropriate.  The wheels are very detailed and have good tyres, with the oldest trucks having thin tyres.

The cabs are modelled very well with nice headlights and they have number plates and fleet numbers where appropriate.  Detailed graphics add to the authentic look.

Behind the cab on each truck there are hoses and a detailed fifth wheel.  The rear lights and detailed mud flaps add to the look.

Features

All the trucks have notched steering and moderate steering angles can be achieved.

The two 3600s have tilting cabs.  They can be posed with the cab tilted, and there is a detailed engine underneath.

Quality

All trucks are high quality with an appropriate limited use of plastic.

The paint and graphics are very good.

Price

It is a good value set given the overall quality.

Overall

This is a very nice collection of trucks which tell a story.  WSI has made the right decision in investing effort into these classic DAF trucks, so the models will stand the test of time.
