Comment on this model.

This truck model is of a Scania 143 4x2.  It was a popular tractor in Ireland following the launch of the 3 Series in 1988.

It is in the colours of Monaghan Truck Services of Dublin, and the real truck has been fully restored.

The model is a limited edition commissioned by Emerald Model Trucks.

Packaging

The packaging is a typical WSI-branded windowed box with the model held in an expanded polystyrene tray, with clear plastic inner tray and lid.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

A collector card is included and it gives the unique number of the model in the production run and some background information on the real truck.

Detail

The transmission is nicely detailed and includes a coloured gearbox.  The suspension is accurately modelled and the exhaust system looks good too.  The wheels are smart and have different tyres on the steering and driven axles.

At the front the Scania grille is convincing and there is an accurate number plate.  There is an under bumper spoiler which is a new casting on this model.

The graphics on the cab are very good, and at the rear this includes a tiny one with the name of the painter of the truck during its restoration.

Behind the cab there are coiled lines and nice tanks with highlighted caps. At the back the lights have plastic lenses and the mud flaps are rigid plastic.

Features

The steering only moves a little before the wheels foul, but it can be gently eased over to a realistic steering angle.

The cab tilts to reveal a detailed engine.

Quality

This model is high quality with plastic used appropriately.

The paintwork and graphics are very good.

Price

The price reflects the limited edition nature of the model.

Overall

It is nice to see another model commissioned from WSI by a new dealer, and that it has a new casting detail as well.  It is high quality and will please collectors with an interest in the truck.
