The Hamm HD+ 110 Roller is a machine
with an operating weight of a little over 10 tonnes.
A variety of versions are manufactured and the one
modelled here is the VO version with an oscillatory drum
and open cab with a roll over protection structure
(ROPS).
Among the features of the real machine are the
hydrostatic drive, crab steering and rotating and moving
operator's seat. It has won a number of design
awards.
Packaging
The model comes in a colourful Hamm branded box which
has a few specification details about the real machine,
and the model is wrapped in polythene and packed between
polystyrene trays. There were no defects or missing
parts on the review model.
There is no assembly to do as the model is
complete out of the box and there is no information
describing its features.
Detail
The rollers are metal with a smooth finish and the
scrapers fit closely and have the securing bolts
detailed. Lines run to the drum centres and there
are finely detailed edge pressers and cutters on one
side of the model. Perhaps the only things missing
are the work lights at the drum edges and the top
sprinkler bars.
Under the cab there are doors to the engine area on both
sides and these are excellently detailed with tiny
graphics. The engine inside is highly detailed too.
Very good graphics are also applied to the front and
rear. The bolt heads are highlighted throughout.
The water tanks for the roller drums have a good matt
finish and include realistic filler caps, and the fuel
tank filler cap is modelled also.
The ROPS is metal and includes a realistic beacon light.
The control console is decorated to
resemble the dashboard, and a tiny graphic
indicates the first aid box.
Features
The drums roll smoothly. The steering can be set by
using the cylinders across the pivot connection to
achieve an angle of around 30°, and the front roller can
also be offset to allow an overlapping compaction area.
The two doors to the engine area can be opened and they
even include clips so that they close shut tightly.
The operator's seat rotates in either direction, and
also slides side-to-side to allow a better viewing
position.
Quality
This is an excellent quality model, with the use of very
small graphics giving it a very realistic look.
Price
The model is
very good value for money.
Overall
This ROPS version of the Hamm HD+ 110 is an excellent
model by WSI. The details and features are very
good and it is an outstanding model.
Footnotes
This model was first shown at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in
2011 and was on sale from May 2011. It is also
available in a version with an
enclosed cab.
