High Topline

The Scania R-series trucks are
designed for long haulage and heavy construction tasks
and the Topline cab facilitates driver sleeping
accommodation.
This model is part of WSI's Premium Line collection.
Packaging
The model comes in a small WSI branded box,
and the model is held in a
polystyrene tray with a clear former. There were no defects or missing
parts on the review model.
There is no assembly to do as the model is complete out
of the box.
Detail
The chassis is very detailed and the suspension and
steering is mostly metal with the exhaust and fuel tanks
being plastic. Both the exhaust pipe and
suspension to axle two appear to hang low. The
wheels have different tyres on the steering and driven
axles. The wheel hubs are painted although the
orange rim paint is not quite perfect which shows if the
model is moved.
The Topline cab looks good, with a metal jewelled light
bar on the roof, and the other lights on the front are
realistic. The steps to the cab are finely
detailed. This is a generic model so there is no
number plate, but a Scania plate appears instead.
The cab door handles are painted, and there are Scania
logos around the cab.
The cab interior is to a high standard with a realistic
Scania steering wheel, and interior decoration to the
cab, seats and console.
Under the cab is a detailed engine. Behind the cab
is a matching tower with a light bar on top, and there
are coiled air lines. The moulding on the rear of
the light bar was not so good on the review model.
The rear wheel arches have tiny lights mounted on the
outside edge, and
the main lights and mud flaps look realistic. A
decorated plastic
cover fits over the fifth wheel.
Features
The front two axles have linked steering but the range
of movement is very limited.
The cab tilts and can be posed in a tilted position.
A loose-fitting plastic cover can be added to the fifth
wheel.
Quality
This is a nice quality model which is mainly
metal, with plastic used appropriately. The paintwork and graphics
are good.
Price
The model is reasonable value for money.
Overall
This is a very good representation of a generic Scania
R6 tractor, with the cab interior being a highlight.
It is good enough to be highly recommended.
