Comment on this model.

MAZ is the abbreviation in Belorussian for the Minsk Automobile Plant.  According to the MAZ website it was established in 1944 and is one of the largest truck manufacturers in Eastern Europe, and it also has factories in the Middle East and Latin America.

This tractor is a 6x4 6430.

Packaging

The packaging is in WSI's style but it is MAZ branded.  The model rests in an expanded polystyrene tray with a clear plastic lid.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

There is no information provided about the real truck or model and there is no assembly to do.

Detail

The chassis is optically similar to that used on WSI's Actros 6x4 models, with the arrangement of tanks being different and modelled in plastic.  Much of the chassis is modelled in metal and the transmission and suspension components are detailed.  The tyres have different treads on the front and rear axles and they are mounted on wheels with disc covers.

The cab exterior is fully detailed with windscreen wipers and mirrors, and the roof has small lights.  At the front the grille is good with convincing MAZ logos.  The headlights have plastic lenses and there is a number plate and Belarus country plate.

Inside, the cab detail is reasonable.  Under the cab is an unbranded detailed engine.

Behind the cab there is a plastic exhaust and coiled lines for connection to a trailer.

Plastic wheel arches cover the rear axles and at the back the lights have plastic lenses and there is a number plate.

Features

The steering is a little loose but has a reasonable range of movement.

The cab tilts forward to about 45° and can pose in the tilted position.

It fits well with the WSI's Nooteboom and Dennison trailers tested.

Quality

It is consistent with the quality of WSI's usual tractor units with a high metal content and plastic used appropriately.

The paint is very good.

Price

The model is good value.

Overall

It is good to see a truck model of one of the less well known truck companies.  Overall it is good enough to highly recommend.
