Comment on this model.

The Liebherr PR 776 Crawler Tractor is the world's first in the 70 tones class which is hydrostatically powered.  It is designed for mining and quarrying activities.

It was first introduced at the Bauma Exhibition in April 2016.

Packaging

The model comes in the standard Liebherr box design with the model held within two separate expanded polystyrene trays and protected with clear plastic sheets.

There were no missing parts or defects on the review model.

There is no information about the real machine or model.

Detail

The undercarriage has detailing on the base plate and includes the transverse linkage between the track frames.

The track frames are detailed and include pendulum mounted bottom rollers which do not rotate. The metal track shoes have the bolt heads indicated.  The high drive sprocket and idlers also appear to be metal.

The cab is metal with thin metal grab rails and plastic mirrors.  Inside the cab, detailing includes black controls and 'Liebherr' is printed on the seat back.

Outside the cab there are textured surfaces and perforated grilles at the rear.  Small graphics add detail.  There are two metal etched walkways which look really good and have metal handrails.

The engine compartment has perforated grilles on the top and sides and there are more small graphics and metal access platforms.  The large front grille is also perforated.  The exhaust pipes are plastic and have black painted openings.

At the rear there is a towing hitch which would be useable with a pin.  The 1 shank ripper is all metal with the exception of the hydraulic ram jackets.  Connection pins are painted giving a realistic look, and there are hydraulic hoses running to the ripper rams.  The ripper tooth is nicely cast.

At the front the semi-U blade is cast well with wear plates on the bottom edge and perforations on the top edge, and a well defined structure behind.  There are hydraulic hoses running to the main blade lift rams, and the plastic ram jackets have an excellent colour match with the metal parts.

Features

The tracks can roll on a rough surface. They are tensioned by spring-loaded front assemblies including the idler and first set of rollers.

There is oscillation across the two linked track frames.

The front blade has a decent range of movement up and down, and can be tilted side-to-side.  It can also be tilted forward.  However the rams are very stiff to operate.

The ripper equipment can be raised and lowered although the rams are extremely stiff.  The ripper tooth can be set at a variety of heights, but is difficult to set at right angles to the ground.

Quality

This model has a very high metal content and is well made.

The paintwork and graphics are very good.

Price

It is good value.

Overall

WSI has produced a fitting model of Liebherr's top-end crawler tractor.  The details are very good.
