Comment on this model.
The Floor Truck Factory (FTF) was a Dutch builder of
heavy haulage that stopped production of tractor units
in 1995. This model is of an F Series tractor.
It is in the colours of Lastra-Breda of Holland.
Lastra was originally part of Alstom and was acquired by
ALE.
Packaging
The packaging is a WSI branded box with the
model resting in an expanded polystyrene tray with a
clear plastic lid.
There were no missing parts or defects on the review
model.
There is no information provided about the real machine
or model and the assembly is limited to fixing the
towing hitches and ballast box.
Detail
The chassis has drive
shafts, differentials and suspension modelled. The tyres have different
treads on the front and rear axles, and are mounted on
detailed wheels with smart trims. The exhaust system is
modelled but it does not seem continuous to the engine.
The cab is fully detailed. On the roof is a gantry
supporting the name board and beacon lights.
The curved FTF cab shape is captured well and the grille
looks good with decent lights and a number plate.
There are metal grab rails on the cab sides and the door
handles are highlighted.
Inside the cab, the detail is reasonable and under the
cab is a detailed engine.
Behind the cab the fuel tank and battery rack are
detailed well. Coiled lines are available to connect into a trailer.
At the
back, the lights are distinct and there is a number plate.
The towing hitch is detailed.
The ballast box is metal with a wood grain texture in
the side panels which is very nicely done. The
tarpaulin cover is plastic with texturing.
Features
The steering has a moderate range of movement.
The cab tilts forward to about 45° and can pose in the
tilted position.
The ballast box is removable and the fifth wheel can
accommodate a trailer. The cover is
removable and a metal weight is provided which
represents ballast for the grip of the rear axles.
The towing hitches at the front and rear have removable
pins.
Quality
It is a well made model with a high metal content and
plastic used appropriately.
The paintwork and graphics are high quality.
Price
It is reasonable value given the limited availability of
the livery.
Overall
As a heritage truck this FTF from WSI hits the spot. It
looks really good and is highly recommended.
Footnotes
The model appeared in March 2014.
