This commercial vehicle is a truck and
trailer in the colours of
Vlug Transport, a Dutch company founded in 1953.
The tractor is a DAF CF 85 Box Truck and has the WSI
model number 10132. The trailer is 3-axle with a
2-axle dolly and has WSI part number 10133.
The overall length of the real truck and trailer is over
25m.
Packaging
The models are packed in two standard WSI branded boxes
with each part contained in a polystyrene tray and held
in with a clear plastic former.
There were no missing parts or defects on the review
models.
There is no information provided about the real vehicle.
Detail
The DAF box truck chassis and transmission is high
quality with the parts mostly metal, and the wheels are very detailed with different tyres on the
front and rear axles.
The cab looks good with excellent lights and a realistic
number plate. The cab interior is very good and
includes the DAF logo on the steering wheel, and the DAF
model number is on the side of the cab (85.460).
There is a Vlug fleet number too. Under the cab is a
detailed engine bearing the Paccar name.
The box section is metal and the graphics and painting
are very sharp and clear. Large fuel tanks are on
either side of the chassis and are protected by plastic
boards. The rear decoration is good with careful
delineation of the doors by casting detail and paint,
and the rear lights and number plate are convincing.
The trailer is a 3-axle box with a 2-axle dolly.
The dolly is highly detailed with coiled air lines, some
hosing to the wheels and the stabiliser includes a
cranking handle. The wheels are detailed.
The trailer chassis has the suspension modelled well and
the large tyres look authentic with detailed wheels.
The landing legs are metal with realistic smooth
pistons.
At the front there are connection points for air lines.
The side protection bars are plastic and not solid like
those on the DAF truck and as some real versions of the
trailer have. The box is a robust metal piece that
is decorated to the same high standard as the box truck.
The lights and other details at the rear are very good.
Features
The DAF box truck has steering and it has a good range of movement.
The tyres are slightly loose fitting on the wheels so
they might need adjustment to prevent wheel wobble when
the truck is rolled.
The cab tilts forward to about 45° and can pose in the
tilted position.
The dolly has working suspension on both axles, and the
stabiliser can be lowered by unscrewing. The
drawbar is pinned and can be lengthened although most of
the holes in the drawbar are smaller than the pin so it
does not fit.
The trailer axles have very good sprung suspension, and
the landing legs can be lowered by unscrewing. If
desired the trailer can be fitted directly to a tractor.
When fully configured an impressive vehicle results that
is around 50cm long.
Quality
This model is high quality with little plastic, and
it feels robust.
The paintwork and graphics are very good.
Price
The model is reasonable value.
Overall
This is an impressive looking truck and trailer
combination with very good paint and graphics. The
working features are good although It would have been
nice if the boxes had opening doors. It is highly recommended.
