The Volvo A60H Articulated Hauler is Volvo's largest machine of this type, and it was introduced at Bauma 2016.   It has an operating weight of 43.4 tonnes unloaded, and can carry a payload 55 tonnes.

Packaging

The model comes in a Volvo picture box with the model held within two separate expanded polystyrene trays and protected with clear plastic sheets.

There were no missing parts or defects on the review model.

There is no information about the model, but there are a few technical details about the real machine printed on the box.

Detail

This is a heavy and robust model.

The wheels have very good detailing and the large tyres are perhaps a touch shiny, but otherwise look fine.  Underneath, the structure is modelled well including the floating elements of the rear axles.  Drive shafts for the all wheel drive are present.

At the front the modelling is excellent with see-through mesh grilles and nice highlighted lights.  There is a tiny Volvo badge and the engine cover has very nice texturing.  The underside of the engine cover is also detailed.  The engine is modelled with a number of differently coloured components and it looks convincing.

The cab is really good and it has a detailed interior although it is hard to see.  The steering wheel appears to be on the large side.   Outside the cab there are textured walkways and the hand rails, grab rails and mirror supports are all thin metal.

Behind the cab there hydraulic hoses which cross the pivot point and also run to the dump bed rams.  There are tiny graphics at the pivot point and a red steering lock bar.  Soft mud flaps are fitted behind the front wheels.

The dump bed is a strong robust part with sharp graphics and very nice rear light clusters.  Big soft mud flaps hang from the front.  Silver rivets connecting the rams would have looked better smaller and in black.

There are small graphics and a safety bar at the rear axle.  The axle springs are visible.

Features

The wheels roll freely and the rear axles are fully sprung and interlinked with a good range of movement.

Steering across the pivot point achieves a very good angle.

The dump bed tips well, with the rams holding any pose.  The angle is very good, if not quite to the 70° of the real machine.

At the front, the engine cover can be raised and there is a useable support bar.  There is a fold down section and it also has a fold down step.

Quality

This model has a high quality feel with its high metal content, and strength.

The paintwork and graphics are very good.

Price

It is a large heavy model and is fair value.

Overall

WSI has produce a high quality detailed model, which also feels robust and strong.   The detailing and functionality add to make it an excellent model.
