The Smit Transformer.
It is quite large compared to the Cranes Etc team member.
The transformer can be lifted as a load.  Here a Liebherr LTM1300 lifts it off a Nooteboom Euro Low Loader.
This accessory is a model of a Smit Transformer and is designed to be used as a heavy haulage load.  Smit Transformers is a Dutch company founded in 1913 which has supplied large power transformers of up to 1000MVA, with voltages up to 525kV. Although not indicated, this appears to be a model of a medium power transformer.

Packaging

This model is included with the Mammoet DAF XF 95 and Nooteboom Euro-78-04 Low Loader from where this review model was taken.

Detail and Features

The Smit transformer is an interesting accessory and makes a good trailer load.  It is fairly heavy and it is made of resin rather than metal.  Not that this matters, because it is a nice item with a well modelled structure, with rivets detailed, together with pipe work to use when filling the transformer with oil.  The roof includes a row of insulators.

The model has been designed as a trailer load and would have been even more flexible if the points where lifting eyes should be are provided had holes to facilitate hanging from a crane.  However it is possible to simulate lifting by attaching chains elsewhere.

Quality and Price

This is a robust piece which has enough detail to make a convincing trailer load.

Overall

As an accessory the Smit Transformer is reasonably well detailed and it provides some flexibility in making interesting poses on heavy haulage trailers.  With some care it can also be used as a crane load and is a recommended accessory.

A heavy load requires heavy transport.  Here Goldhofer module units are used.
