This commercial vehicle is in the colours of
Rasting,
a German meat company.
The tractor is
Volvo VN 780 6x4 'Torpedo' and the trailer is 2-axle
refrigerated truck with a Thermo King cooling unit.
Packaging
The model is packed in a standard WSI-branded
box. Inside is an expanded polystyrene tray with a
clear lid.
There were no missing parts or defects on the review
models.
There is no information provided about the real vehicle
or model.
Detail
The
Volvo has a very detailed transmission and the gearbox
and universal joints are particularly good. Most
of the chassis is metal. There are different tread
patterns on the front and rear tyres and the wheels are
brightly chromed and detailed.
At the front the lights look convincing and the grille
is excellent consisting of fine mesh. Under the
hood is a
detailed engine which is all in black. The cab is
large with a sleeper facility behind. A nice touch
is the gear shift inside. Although the roof light
and windows are solid the graphics and detailing outside
are very good.
Behind the cab there are a number of fine quality metal
grab rails. Thin hoses run through the chassis to
the rear and these add nice detail. At the rear
the lights are formed of individual components.
The trailer is
mostly metal. The chassis is modelled and the link
of the rear axle steering to the fifth wheel connection
is visible but non-functioning.
The tyres had some lipping on the inside edge on the
review model but this is not visible in normal poses and
could easily be trimmed off.
The landing legs are metal with realistic smooth
pistons.
At the front there are connection points for air lines
and the Thermo King refrigeration unit looks good. The box is a robust metal piece
and the quality of the decoration is very good but not
quite perfect on the review model. At the rear the
lifting platform is non-functional but is modelled well.
Features
The steering on the Volvo has very limited movement and
can barely be posed turned.
The
hood opens up fully and can pose in the
opened position.
The trailer axles have very good sprung suspension, and
the rear axle steers to a good angle.
The landing legs can be lowered by unscrewing.
Quality
This model is generally very good quality with a
high metal content.
The paintwork and graphics are very good.
Price
The model is
fair value.
Overall
WSI has produced an attractive model with the high
quality graphics the stand-out aspect. Better
steering on the Volvo would have enhanced the posing
possibilities but overall the model is good enough to be
highly recommended.
