SEM 822 Track-Type Tractor + SEM 919 Motor Grader Video.  [Youku Video]
SEM branded box.
Nice looking model.
Ripper is good but the rivets would be better painted.

Nice hydraulics.
Opening cab door.
Floating rear wheels.
Realistic grader.

The SEM 919 is 15 tonne motor grader and is the smallest produced by SEM.

SEM (Shandong Engineering Machinery) is the brand name of the Caterpillar-owned Chinese equipment maker.

Packaging

The model comes in an SEM branded box which has a window.  Inside the box, the model is contained within plastic formers and is secured with a single twist tie.

The review model had no missing parts or defects.

No information is provided about the real machine.

Detail

There is detail underneath, particularly in the engine area.  The rubber tyres are nice, and they are mounted on detailed wheels.

At the rear the ripper is metal and the five shanks have plastic teeth with highlighted tips.  The rivets are silver and as in other places on the model would have looked better painted.  A hose runs to the hydraulic ram.

The engine block has metal grab rails and the see-through mesh side grilles are excellent.  Tool boxes on each side are off-colour compared to the rest of the model.  Under the engine cover is a detailed engine.

No hydraulics are visible crossing the steering pivot point. The cab is very good, with a very detailed interior and extremely thin grab rails.

At the front end the blade has highlighted wear plates, and nicely modelled light sit on stalks above the front axle.  The moldboard also has highlighted wear plates on the blade, and the detailing of the hydraulics is very good.

Features

The front axle has very good steering capability it is able to oscillate up and down significantly.  The engineering that allows the tyres to lean is very good.

The rear wheels are all linked together and they oscillate on the pivot point.

The grader can steer across the pivot point behind the cab although the angle is shallow.

At the rear the ripper can be raised and lowered.

The moldboard can be raised and lowered, and a small amount of side to side tilt is possible.  It can also rotate on the circle, and have the face tilted forwards and backwards a little.

Both cab doors open widely.

The engine cover opens fully.

Quality

This model is robust and well made.  It has a high metal content with plastic used appropriately.

The paintwork and graphics are very good.

Price

It is very good value for a large model.

Overall

This grader is a nicely made model and will be interesting to anyone wanting a complete collection of Caterpillar models.
