The XCMG
XCT75 is a four axle truck crane with a capacity of 75
tons.
Packaging
The model comes in a nice XCMG branded box and inside
it, the model is contained within a pair of expanded
polystyrene trays. The model is covered with soft paper
and tied with a ribbon to prevent the boom moving.
The review model had no missing parts or defects.
There is some information about the real truck printed
on the box, but it is in chinese. Two tools are
provided with the model: a pointer and a key. Assembly
of the few parts is straightforward, but the jib extensions need paint cleaned out to get
the steel connecting pins in. Out of the box the
hook block was not reeved correctly.
Detail
The truck chassis has some reasonable detail underneath
with the transmission and various tanks modelled.
The wheels look good, although the tyres are the same on
all axles.
The truck cab looks good with some sharp graphics on the
cab doors. The interior detail is good, but the
steering wheel seems large and high.
The carrier deck has a variety of texturing, and there is a spare wheel
at the back. The deck edges have a nice red and
white chequered pattern.
The outrigger beams are metal with graphics applied, and
the pads are nicely shaped. When extended, the pistons
have visible screw threads.
The crane cab has a plastic guard on the roof, and a
stand out aspect is the highly detailed console formed
of graphics on the inside. At the back the
counterweight is a single piece but it it looks very
good. The winch drums also look good, but
the look is spoiled by a fixed winding handle in the
rear drum, giving a toy-like appearance. It could
be cut off to give the model a realistic look.
Only the rear drum is functional, the inner one is
fixed.
The boom has some detailing and sharp graphics, and the
boom ram has a metal jacket. The pulley blocks at
the end and in the large hook are single pieces rather
than separate sheaves. A single sheave is used for
the small boom extension and it would have been better
if these had been used everywhere else.
The fly jib is a two piece casting with the lattice work
being a little on the thick side.
Two hook blocks are supplied. The hooks seem on
the large side although that may be a Chinese style.
Features
The model rolls very well, although the steering angle
on the linked axles is restricted There is
some sprung suspension.
The truck cab doors open, although not widely.
The rear two stage outriggers extend and the pads can be
screwed down. The front outrigger beams fold out.
The crane can be supported wheels-free.
The crane cab door slides open.
The counterweight block is removable by undoing two
small screws, although the block cannot be properly
posed on the carrier deck.
The boom raises easily as there is no friction in the
boom ram. A pose is held by tightening a grub screw in the ram jacket
and this works well.
The telescopic sections extend smoothly and lock at full
extension.
The fly jib can be attached but only in a fully extended
mode. It cannot be set at an offset angle.
A short boom extension for single line operation can be
attached to the boom head.
Two hooks are provided. One with two sheaves, and
one for single line operation.
Quality
It has a high metal content with some plastic
used. The quality level is very good overall.
The paintwork and graphics are very good.
Price
It is a good value crane model for the
functionality offered.
Overall
This is a relatively inexpensive crane model by
Yagao, and it has some very nice aspects and plenty of
functionality. It would look much better without a
fixed winding handle in the rear winch drum.
