| This model of a MAN TGX XXL Tractor was produced for sale in the MAN Shop. The tractor is an 8x4 and the MAN model number on the cab is TGX 41.540.
Packaging
The model comes in a standard Conrad box with the model wrapped in foam rubber. Unusually the Conrad label describing the model and number is not on the box. The review model had no defects or missing parts.
There is no information provided about the real vehicle or instructions for the model. The only assembly required is to fit the door mirrors, twin roof aerials and a towing hitch.
Detail
As tractor unit it is a typically heavy Conrad model with little plastic used.
Underneath, the transmission and suspension is mostly modelled, with the main prop shaft missing because of the large linked steering mechanism. The wheels are very good, with different width tyres split between the driven and steering axles. The hubs have really nice detailing and look sharp.
The cab looks clean, with the lights having lenses and there is an air conditioner on the roof. Cab interior details are average.
Behind the cab, there is a metal exhaust pipe and there is frame and tank modelled in metal and it is very robust. The wheel arches are plastic and look fine. At the rear the lights have plastic lenses and there are two towing hitches.
Features
The tractor has linked steering on the front two axles and these permit some movement before fouling on the wheel arches, but the model can be posed with more lock although it cannot roll.
At the rear, the driven axles float independently to give some suspension movement.
The driving cab tilts forward although the range was limited on the review model. It does just pose with the cab tilted.
At the rear a second towing hitch can be fitted if desired.
Quality
As usual this is a solid and strong Conrad model. The black paint finish is good and the MAN graphics compliment the paint well.
Price
The price is fair for an exclusive model.
Overall
This is a smart looking MAN tractor which can join to a Conrad trailer. It has decent detail and features and is recommended to MAN fans.
Footnotes
The model first appeared in September 2011.
