Comment on this model.
This Mercedes-Benz Actros truck has a Carnehl
tipper body.
This version of the model is in the colours of Jean
Lefebvre which was founded in France in 1927 as a family roadworks company, and became part of the
VINCI Group in 2000.
Packaging
The model comes in a standard Conrad outer box, and it is
wrapped in foam rubber.
The review model had no defects or missing parts.
There is no information provided about the real vehicle
or instructions for the model. The only assembly
required is to fit the door mirrors and roof aerials.
Detail
The
8x4 truck chassis is good with most of the
transmission and rear axle suspension modelled in plastic whilst the steering
axles are functionally modelled. A short
section of drive shaft is missing as a compromise for
the steering mechanism. The chassis structure is metal. The wheels are
detailed, and the tyres are the same on all
axles.
The Actros cab looks good with texture on the door
mirrors, nice beacon lights and it is pleasing to see a
realistic number plate, and there is a fleet number too. The
graphics are small and sharp. Under the cab the engine
is modelled.
Behind the cab the equipment is metal with the chromed
exhaust looking
good. The wheel arches are plastic which
replicates modern truck design. At
the rear the lights are painted and there is a plastic
towing hitch.
The tipper body is all metal with
the Carnehl name embossed on the sides, and it has a
good half-pipe shape. The ram is multi-stage
telescopic with the jacket in tough dull-looking
plastic. At the rear the silver rivet attaching
the body is large and visible.
Features
The two front axles have linked steering and
they can achieve a good angle. The
two rear axles have a degree of up and down movement to
represent suspension.
The cab tilts forward and can
maintain a tilted pose.
The tipper body can end-tip and it
achieves and can hold a good angle.
The tailgate opens
although it is not free swinging.
Quality
This robust model has a high metal content and is well
made.
The paintwork and graphics are very good quality.
Price
The model is reasonable value.
Overall
As usual functionality and robust build are the
hallmarks of this Conrad model. In Jean Lefebvre
colours it goes well with other models which are
similarly branded.
Footnotes
The model
in Jean Lefebvre colours first appeared in June 2014 and
was made in a exclusive run of 300 models for the
VINCI webshop.
