This is a model of the Mercedes-Benz Arocs 6x4
together with a 7 axle Nooteboom Trailer equipped with a Loader Crane and load bed for Demag AC 650 / 700
crane parts.
It is in the colours of the Dutch lifting and transport
specialist Mammoet.
Packaging
The model comes in a
long high quality box enclosed by a Mammoet-branded sleeve
with a photo of the real real truck. Inside the box the
model is held in high quality foam.
The review model had no missing parts. One part was
detached during shipping and was easily refixed.
The tractor has an incorrect 'Actros' graphic applied.
A uniquely numbered Mammoet certificate is also
included, but there is no information about the real
truck.
Detail
The
Arocs has a detailed 6x4 chassis. The
transmission components are modelled and the tyres are different on the steering and driven axles.
The wheels are very detailed and the hubs are
highlighted in red.
At the front there is a limited edition number plate
fixed inside the wheel arch.
The cab has an air horn and aerial on the roof together
with a nice light bar. The Arocs grille is impressive
but it has been badged as an Actros, which appears
incorrect. The many
graphics are very sharp and there is a fleet number on
the cab although there is some misalignment of the
Mammoet name across the cab doors and body. There is a realistic number
plate .
Behind the cab there are cabinets and coiled lines.
Various textured surfaces are in front of the fifth wheel.
At the rear the lights have lenses and the rigid mud flaps
have graphics applied.
A driver is included as a separate part. It is detailed,
with Mammoet printed on the back.
The trailer has excellent detail on the underside at the
front, including a turntable for the king pin and the
structure of the timbers. There are simple landing
legs, and the rest of underside is simply detailed.
At the front is a containerised office, but no obvious
air line connection points are detailed. There are
detailed graphics on the deck edges including a yellow
stripe. The deck has special frames and brackets fitted
which are bespoke for carrying a counterweight tray and spreader
plates. There is an access ladder on one side
which has an over large loop at one end.
On the deck is a small loader crane.
It is mainly metal with some nice details although the
silver connection rivets stand out a little.
The back of the trailer has detailed graphics and
lights.
Features
The Arocs has very good steering movement.
A separate fifth wheel is provided so the tractor can
accommodate trailers with a larger kingpin.
The cab has opening doors. These work well, and
open to a good angle.
The driver can be inserted in the cab.
The trailer has proportional steering on the rear 6
axles.
The landing legs can be lowered but thy can hold no
load.
The loader crane can be rotated and posed in a lifting
position and it has a telescopic section too. However,
the rams are not stiff enough to hold a
load.
A ladder can be rotated into a working position.
Quality
This is a nice quality model with a high metal
content.
The paint finish and graphics are high quality.
Price
It is a limited edition and unusual model, and is priced
accordingly.
Overall
This is a good partner model for Demag AC 650 and 700
mobile crane models. Most of the detailing is very
good with the incorrect Actros graphic being small and
relatively unobtrusive.
Footnotes
The model appeared in June 2024 and was made in a
run of 500 models.
